Position Objective:
As a Material Handler II, the incumbent must be willing to perform various warehouse, shipping and receiving responsibilities at our Pall Nottingham, MD distribution facility. Incumbents must possess basic material handling skills and must be willing to learn and continuously expand knowledge, skills and abilities required to support this large distribution center. Teamwork and the willingness to assist and train others in completing daily work is an expectation and is essential for the role. Another key expectation is a continuous focus on upholding environmental, health and safety (EHS) of oneself and coworkers. It is also critical that our team members uphold and follow defined quality standards in an efficient and consistent manner as this supports Pall’s internal and external customer expectations. These standards are achieved by daily partnering with team members and site leadership to support defined goals of the distribution center. Critical to the incumbent’s success includes being consistently punctual and reliable, including the willingness to work assigned schedule including required overtime, which will include weekends business needs dictate.
Essential Job Functions:
Read and understand Standard Operating Procedures
Counting using calculator if need.
Learn and follow standard work for all areas within a Value Stream.
Working knowledge/understanding of warehouse shipping and receiving.
Conduct Daily 5S activities within a Value Stream.
Follow quality standards within a Value Stream.
Ensure safe work conditions and identify/improve environmental health and safety.
Able to analyze, conduct and comprehend simple mathematical tasks.
Maintaining daily reports and communications concerning the status of shipments with Pall Internal and External Customers.
Capable of performing cycle counts.
Knowledge of parcel shipping operations.
Able to perform ship verification via handheld device.
Ability to learn and use packaging equipment.
Capable of working independently without constant supervisor.
Can make sound judgment based on knowledge and experience.
Can complete an hourly scorecard.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and up to 70 pounds periodically with assistance.
Ability to stand, sit, stoop, bend, walk, reach, squat, kneel, push and pull for extended periods of time.
Able to climb a ladder and flex the upper and lower body.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Three (3) year of experience in a distribution / warehouse environment with experience involving at least two of the following; picking, packing/loading, receiving, stocking
High School Diploma or GED
Email and basic PC / typing skills.
Must be able to operate Reach truck and Cherry picker. If not certified, must be willing and able to test, certify and operate site equipment as required and directed
Ability to work at heights while operating equipment (for example: cherry picker)
Transferable experience can be considered (for example: retail stocking)
