What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tool and Die Maker position at Palmetto State Armory L?
JOB PURPOSE |
The Tool and Die Maker is responsible for ensuring all manufacturing equipment tool is available for production to support the on-time production for manufacturing. This is accomplished through maintaining tool list and spare parts based on the production plan and ensuring special tools are ordered and the tool room has the proper inventory of standard tools ready for production. The Tool and Die Maker is responsible to assist building proper tool room condition by suggesting required equipment and materials. Machine and make gages, fixtures, parts for maintenance.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES |
- Create and analyze tooling usage.
- Modify or produce changes required to maintain quality product that is affected by tooling.
- Support Production/Maintenance as needed.
- Able to polish and prep tooling required for production through out the day.
- Coordinate with Quality Managers to resolve quality defects.
- Assist Management in prepping the tool room, suggest required equipment needed.
- Ensure safety of the employees and quality of the products throughout all processes.
- Assist engaging of culture of continuous improvement within your team where all members understand and are actively engaged in continuous improvement.
- Adhere to guidelines and procedures to ensure the safe handling, removal, and disposal of both hazardous and non-hazardous materials
- All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS |
- Degree in Machine Tool Technology or related field or programming certification (e/g/, Tool & Die, Machinist, Programmer). Relevant experience and job history may be considered in lieu of formal education credentials.
- Blueprint reading, able to run manual machines, lathes, knee mills, surface grinders, heat treating, wire EDM
- Programming 3, 4 and 5 axis Mill & 2 axis Turn equipment.
- Experience machining a variety of materials.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices and ISO standards required
- Proven history of creating effective support documentation
- Ability to setup and run jobs
- Knowledgeable in all measuring instrumentation, calipers, micrometers, indicators
- Ability to design fixturing.
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
- Basic to intermediate shop math.
- Must be willing to work overtime as required.
- On occasion, work irregular hour to accommodate manufacturing schedules and night shift.
- All other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS |
Work is performed in a manufacturing/warehouse setting.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS |
It is frequently required to sit for extended periods, stand, stoop, and walk. Occasionally lifts from floor to waist up to 50 pounds.
Must be at least 18 years old.
