What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manager, Workers Comp position at Panera Bread?
The Manager, Workers Compensation will own the management of all Workers’ Comp claims for the organization from inception through resolution. This position will be based out of the Laumeier Support Center, located in St. Louis, MO.
The primary responsibilities of this job include, but are not limited to:
Manage all workers’ compensation claims to ensure associate is back to work in a timely manner, whether at modified or full duty.
Follow up on all claims that were not reported properly to ensure adherence to procedures and policies.
Coordinate with Human Resources and/or Legal on claims requiring information related to FMLA, associate personal records or subpoenaed claims and requests from defense counsel.
Communicate weekly reports, provide other information and reporting as requested.
Participate in claim reviews and provide information on workers’ compensation issues.
Partner with cafes and production facilities to set up medical providers in their jurisdictions as needed.
Manage the daily information and direction to the adjusters on Panera’s workers’ compensation claims.
Review claims over $25,000 on a quarterly basis to review closure plan with adjusters.
Provide wage statements for lost work time claims to ensure associates are paid appropriately and timely.
Other project work upon request.
Qualifications include:
3 years’ workers compensation experience required.
Bachelor's degree in related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively and empathetically with individuals at all levels inside and outside the organization.
Strong technical skills, with a demonstrated interest in learning new technologies and claims related programs.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and claims management systems.
Outstanding organizational and prioritization skills and strong attention to detail.
Flexible team player must be quick to switch directions as circumstances dictate.
Must keep integrity at the forefront in every aspect of the job.
