Job Posting for Lead Logistics Coordinator at Paper Transport

This role will be part of our Logistics Operations Team executing Intermodal shipments interfacing with both customers and vendors. Main areas of focus will be to develop carrier and customer relationships, grow profitability, assure smooth customer startups, and facilitate short and long-term desk and account coverage.

Key to success in this role will be the ability to evaluate multiple options to move freight and consistently work with the team to influence low cost, high service choices that benefit the network as a whole.

Essential Functions:

  • Observe, create, share, and implement best practices across the team.
  • Assist in startup of new business.
  • Provide support and guidance to Logistic Coordinators as needed
  • Train incoming Logistic Coordinator’s and support roles
  • Assist Operations Manager as needed
  • Develop relationships with rail and drayage providers. Work with the carriers on rates and service.
  • Execute shipments at the load level through receiving orders, tendering those orders to the preferred drayage/rail carrier(s) and tracking the shipment through completion.
  • Monitor account profitability, service levels, and realization of the award. Work with AM, Sales, and leadership on improvement plans for customers on continuous basis.

Education and experience requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or a related field preferred
  • Knowledge of transportation management systems and the transportation environment
  • Financial experience a plus
  • Intermodal operations experience a plus
  • Customer interaction in a multi-tasking environment
