What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Engineer position at Paper?
Reporting to our Quality Engineering Manager, the Quality Engineer will guide the quality of new features from inception to release, as well as ensure existing features meet our customer's expectations. This individual will collaborate closely with software engineers, product managers, and product designers to ensure we deliver high quality and value to our customers. The Quality Engineer will analyze product requirements, perform risk assessments, develop test plans that include both manual and automated testing, and execute those plans.
Responsibilities
- Analyze upcoming product enhancements and perform risk analysis
- Develop test plans that consistently result in high quality software delivery
- Execute test plans and record progress and results
- Perform manual and automated testing
- Implement new automated tests
- Review user interfaces for consistency and functionality
- Continuously evaluate and drive innovations in our overall testing processes
- Uphold and embody Paper’s mission, vision, and values
Qualifications
- 3 years experience as a Quality Engineer previously
- Experience in developing test plans, assessing risk, filing appropriate defects, and providing relevant data for test reporting
- Knowledge of software development lifecycle, testing methodologies, and testing tools
- Experience in the creation and automation of software tests
- Understanding of software quality metrics
- Experience with continuous integration systems such as Jenkins, CircleCi, or GitLab
- Ability to analyze and triage problems, prioritize accordingly, and propose a resolution
- Ability to work independently, raise issues and take corrective action
- Strong written and oral communications skills
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Experience with PHP and Node.js is a plus
