Laboratory Manager

Seeking Laboratory Manager/Supervisor! Ability to function in all areas of the genetics/molecular laboratory. If you are ready to lead, this position is for you!

Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

• Independently and accurately perform routine and complex molecular testing, including DNA/RNA extraction and PCR.
• Analyze laboratory findings and evaluate validity of test results.
• Performs all required quality control procedures to ensure validity of test results.
• Assist in resolution of technical problems in accordance with laboratory policies and procedures.
• Maintains laboratory equipment and instrumentation; performs troubleshooting procedures as needed.
• Participate in quality assurance programs and activities to ensure the accuracy of laboratory results.
• Performs evaluations and implementation of new or revised laboratory procedures and techniques.
• Ensure that proficiency testing (PT) samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens and maintain records as appropriate.
• Consult with other departments, as appropriate, to collaborate in patient care and performance improvement activities.
• Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and take appropriate action to correct the problems.
• Review pending reports and follow up to resolve outstanding specimens.
• Responsible for accurately competing records and reports.
• Coordinate training and orientation of new personnel.

Education/Licensure

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in biological, chemical, physical, or laboratory science from an accredited institution with a minimum of 2 years of training or experience in a high complexity testing OR
• Have education equivalent to an Associate’s degree in biological, chemical, physical, or laboratory science from an accredited institution with a minimum of 2 years of training or experience in a high complexity testing
• MLS (ASCP), MT (ASCP, AMT), or MLT (ASCP, AMT) Certification preferred not required

Supervisory Responsibilities

Responsible for direct supervision of laboratory staff.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
