Parent Support Network of Rhode Island is hiring Father Partner-Community Health Workers and Peer Recovery Specialists, who are culturally and linguistically diverse fathers who are or have raised children and youth with behavioral health and/or have been in recovery themselves. Father partners are focused on reaching expecting and new fathers, and fathers who at risk or involved with child welfare and/or the justice system.
Responsibilities
Schedule and conduct visits in home and community settings one on one and in small groups with fathers (this includes pregnant and post-partum partners, and/or infant) regularly from the first confirmation of pregnancy until the infant is 18 months old) and utilize approved curriculums and evidence-based best practices. Phone calls and texting with parent, as needed, between in-person visits and transport as approved.
Support and assist fathers who are going through similar lived experiences and in need of accessing services and resources to care for their children and family.
Facilitates/leads group educational sessions, special projects and outreach initiatives/events
Schedules and conducts visits to referral partners to maintain contact. Meets regularly with new and established referral partners to describe program services, referral procedures, and distribute referral forms.
Provides input to and participates in quality assurance activities to increase father participation and improve outcomes for father engagement, child outcomes, and social determinants
Record home visit observations and activities in a complete, concise, and timely manner as required
Provide support to ensure a healthy pregnancy, parent(s) and baby.
Qualifications:
High school Diploma or GED, direct lived experience as a father. Good understanding on how to navigate and access healthcare, housing, child support, department of human service benefits, vocation/employment, housing, medical treatment and recovery services. Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office and a valid driver’s license with safe/reliable transportation required. RI driver’s license required. Bi-lingual Spanish and other languages.
