Job Description – The Community Connection Assistant Program Manager
Primary Job Description: The Assistant Program Manager manages training, safety and supervises the Direct Support Professionals and assist in developing activities and strategies to implement each participant’s IPP based on individual needs and preferences. The goal of this service is to teach needed and desired skills when possible and/or support individuals in ways that promote self-reliance, self-determination and participation in community and center based activities. The Assistant Program Manager reports to the Program Manager of Community Connections. This is a full time position, Non-Exempt, consisting mostly with direct service and occasionally administrative duties.
Job Responsibilities:
- Attend Regional Center and Community Care Licensing meetings when Program Manager is not available.
- Communicate to the Program Manager the changing needs of the program.
- Communicate well with a wide variety of individuals including some with unique communication styles.
- Conduct monthly safety meetings.
- Create and post daily/weekly schedules and when necessary reassign staff as required due to unscheduled events.
- Delegate responsibility for program needs to Direct Support Professionals.
- Implement Infection Control and Prevention Plan and complete the necessary training to become the programs Infection Preventionist.
- Keep timely and accurate records.
- Perform Covid-19 Surveillance Testing in accordance with company policy
- Perform Covid-19 Data Entry and Data Management
- Promote respectful and dignified relationships with and between people with developmental disabilities
- Provide a positive learning atmosphere for each participant as well as moral support and inspiration.
- Review payroll, billing, mileage and petty cash when Program Manager is not available.
- Review participant activities and goal attainment progress.
- Supervise, delegate responsibility and train staff that will be working independently.
- Using the IPP, develop a schedule of activities and strategies with participants and others in their circle of support.
Job Requirements:
- Ability to be flexible, patient and handle a variety of situations.
- Ability to use tact, diplomacy and treat people with respect and dignity.
- Be of good character, with a reputation of personal integrity.
- Experience in Google Drive, Microsoft Word and Excel
- Knowledge of the field of developmental disabilities.
- Must be able to push a wheelchair holding a person weighing up to 250 pounds and perform a two-person lift and transfer of the same weights on a daily basis.
- Must have a telephone.
- Must have a valid California Drivers License
- Own an automobile in safe condition with insurance coverage at the minimum required by state law.
- Pass background check
- Strong capacity for confidentiality
- Two years in a human services field or equivalent experience.

SUPERVISES: The Community Connection Direct Support Professionals.
