RN HEALTH OCCUPATIONS

Position Summary: *
This position is teaching Health Occupations to area high school students in cooperation with the Eastern Illinois Education for Employment System (EIEFES). Teachers will teach CNA curriculum as outlined by IDPH, with additional in-depth physiology, anatomy, and terminology. Teachers also provide career information to help students explore a variety of health care careers while learning employability skills and the training needed to sit for the state CNA examination.

Essential Functions: *

• Teach and enhance health occupations curriculum as coordinated with EIEFES Director.
• Provide guidance and support for all classroom and clinical activities including attending teacher meetings as announced
• Arrange Class Speakers to come into the class where appropriate
• Work with area School Districts to assist with student recruitment
• Enforce class policy
• Work with school districts or EIEFES Director if there are student issues to be addressed
• Submit student grades to school districts at end of each Quarter
• Work with local colleges to offer dual credit to students for course content.
• Work with hospital staff for collaboration with class/students
• Work with Business Partners to provide on-site experiences for students
• Partner and collaborate with other teachers as needed
• Other duties as required by Director or needed by students
• Teaching Full-time 7:00-3:30pm, Monday-Friday with time as needed outside of class to prepare
• Some nights and weekends as needed
• When school is closed, this position will report to the Education Dept and perform duties as assigned

Position Requirements: *

• Registered Nurse with over 2 years of experience and at least 1 year working in long-term care &/or med-surg
• IDPH Approved CNA Educator (assistance provided to obtain)
• CPR Certified: Healthcare Provider Level
• Willing to apply for an IL State Board of Education teaching license (no classes required - assistance provided to obtain)
• Clean Criminal History
• Preferred: experience in working with high school aged students
• Preferred: experience teaching
• Must be passionate about the profession and enjoy working in health care
