Position Summary:
Performs a variety of secretarial tasks where transcription of chart notes and medical records is a primary requisite. Serves as liaison between the Transcription Call Center and the medical department to resolve transcription issues. Accurately interprets, edits, and transcribes medical dictation as necessary in order to document patient care and facilitate quality delivery of health care services. Requires successful completion of an accredited medical secretary or transcription training program or an equivalent of one or more years related experience (including medical transcription) required. Requires good knowledge of general office practices and accurate typing of 60 wpm, proven competency in business English and medical transcription, a working knowledge of anatomy, pharmacology and diagnostic and laboratory procedures as well as extensive medical terminology and strong communication skills. Certified Medical Transcriptionist (CMT) or Medical Record Technologist (MRT) status desirable.
