Automotive: Ford ASSET Part-Time Faculty

Part-Time Faculty appointments have a salary range of $1,085.00 - 1,224.00 per Equated Contact Hour (ECH)

Automotive: Ford ASSET Part-Time Faculty teach part-time in all areas of automotive technology, participate in the recruitment of students, advise and mentor students and assist with Parkland automotive events. Preference will be given to candidates with Ford STST certification, ASE Certification, Ford Dealership experience and prior teaching experience. Pre-employment criminal background check with fingerprinting required. Information regarding department programs & majors:

Essential Job Functions

  • Teach in all areas of automotive technology.
  • Assist with Parkland automotive events.
  • Recruit Ford dealers to sponsor ASSET students.
  • Perform professional duties in accordance with the established policies and procedures of the college.
  • Maintain information in Ford ASSET database.
  • Provide classroom instruction in accordance with the stated philosophy, objectives, and established course outlines of the college.
  • Inform students of course regulations, evaluation procedures, and other information pertinent to the course; prepares a course syllabus for each course and distributes it early in each term.
  • Is available for student advising/mentoring.
  • Maintain regular office hours to ensure availability for student consultation; provides assistance to students in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate scholastic records of students; submits required reports on student progress according to published deadlines.
  • Participate in departmental governance including curriculum development, instructional materials selection, and academic assessment.
  • Participate in college-wide shared governance, including PCA Senate, its committees, administrative committees, and accreditation committees.
  • Participate in student recruitment and retention efforts.
  • Participate in professional development activities related to discipline knowledge and/or teaching skills.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the department chair.

Minimum Requirements

  • Two (2) years of experience in service and repair at an automotive dealership.
  • ASE certification in G1.
  • Ford STST certification in assigned areas of instruction.
  • Must successfully complete a criminal background check with finger printing.
  • In an effort to comply with SURS return-to-work restrictions for employers (40 ILCS 5/15-139.5), candidates for employment at Parkland College must either not be a SURS annuitant or must be willing to suspend his/her SURS annuity upon employment. This applies to all SURS annuitants except those receiving their annuity under either the Self-Managed Plan (SMP) or by lump sum payment.
