Part-Time Cook
Hourly Rate : $14.31
The Child Development Center (CDC) Cook is responsible for preparing and providing breakfast, lunches, and afternoon snacks for CDC students and employees according to applicable nutrition, sanitation, and department guidelines.
The Child Development Center Cook is an on-campus, part-time, 19-hours or less per week, non-union position on a schedule established by the CDC Assistant Director.
The position requires timely preparation and delivery of food to classrooms and the ability to cook palatable food in large quantities.
The Cook must also comply with detailed nutrition and public health guidelines and maintain up-to-date information and training.

Essential Job Functions :
Monitor quality and safety of food supplies.
Prepare food items.
Clean and sanitize work area, utensils, and cookware.
Deliver meals and snacks to classrooms.
Properly dispose of refuse.
Order, receive, stock supplies, and conduct monthly inventory.
Routine handling of cookware & supplies necessary for the preparation, distribution, & serving of food.
Plan menus and negotiate terms with vendors.
Special arrangements are necessary to accommodate food allergies and diet restrictions.
Identify and resolve problems interfering with food service operations.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements :
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
One (1) year of experience in cooking for large groups.
Must pass a background check as specified by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) and Parkland College.
A valid State of Illinois Department of Public Health Food Service Sanitation License, Permit, Certification, and Registration.
Verbal and mathematical abilities sufficient to fulfill position responsibilities.
In an effort to comply with SURS return-to-work restrictions for employers (40 ILCS 5 / 15-139.5), candidates for employment at Parkland College must either not be a SURS annuitant or must be willing to suspend his / her SURS annuity upon employment.
