Part-time Office Assistant, Student Services
Hourly Rate : $15.13

The Office Assistant is responsible for greeting and receiving guests, facilitating the flow of the offices, directing visitors responding to inquiries, managing check-in and check-out of students and visitors, assisting with application and the enrollment process, files maintenance, performing data entry, and providing general clerical support to student services departments
The Office Assistant is a part time, temporary, non-union appointment on a schedule established by the supervisor. The position involves frequent handling of confidential records which may include but are not limited to, educational, financial, and medical and psychological records.
The office assistant must be able to work effectively with a diverse population in a high-volume environment with minimal supervision, frequent interruptions, and simultaneous tasks.

Essential Job Functions :
General Office Operations
Handle inquiries (walk-in, phone, and email) from students, faculty, staff, administrators, and visitors that come into the office.
Provide a general overview of the enrollment process to prospective students.
Contact hearing impaired students using phone relay system for the deaf.
Interact daily with faculty related to the work of the office such as to request academic tests and trouble shoot testing related issues.
Schedule meetings.
Serve as first point of contact for students and parents in crisis while campus personnel are contacted.
Interact with campus departments daily for information and student referrals.
Support student services staff.
Assist with preparing Parkland related mailings and stuffing envelopes
Answer telephone, written, and in-person inquiries.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Maintenance of records
Preserve and maintain records
Receive and process confidential information for student files. Manage the data entry and maintenance of multiple databases.
Create student ID's.
Minimum Requirements :
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Ability to clearly articulate tests to students.
Capability of reading at the college level with appropriate vocabulary and pronunciation skills.
Must have sufficient writing and mathematical abilities to perform the essential functions of the position, including excellent use of English grammar.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
Ability to learn various assistive technology software programs and applications that assist students with disabilities and visual impairments, such as Natural Reader, Zoom Text, and Kurzweil software.
Must have excellent organizational and communication skills.
Ability to work independently.
Must successfully complete a criminal background check with fingerprinting.
