What are the responsibilities and job description for the Barback position at Parkside Tavern?
No experience necessary. We are looking for individuals that have a great attitude, a willingness to learn, and the ability to lift @50lbs at a time, ability to move quickly, yet carefully in tight spaces, no issues going up and down 1 flight of stairs multiple times a shift. Each shift is roughly 10hrs give or take. Also expect a morning prep shift 1-2 times a week from 9:30am - 11:30am.
Example shift:
3:00 - setting up the bar with Bartenders for the evening’s shift
4:00 - open and work
@10:00pm - start closing procedures
Bar Back job duties are below, but not limited to:
Opening
- Put away all liquor and beer deliveries that came in during the day.
- Juice citrus, pour into quarts and bottles, label and date them.
- Prep syrups, pour into quarts label and date them.
- Prep garnishes as needed, label and date containers properly.
- Keep the bar fully stocked at all times.
- Refill ice wells.
- Restock liquor bottles.
- Change out beer kegs.
- Replenish straws, napkins, picks, receipt paper and other counter items.
- Maintain clean bar rags in each bartender’s station.
During Shift
- Clean and polish glasses. Collect empty glasses and dishes from the bar. Keep back bar and bar top presentable.
- Refill juices, syrups, bitters as needed by bartenders.
- Clean drink spills and sweep broken glassware.
- Help the bartenders with any additional needs.
- Help out with punching orders into the POS system as needed.
- Take out the trash or recycling throughout the shift (and wash hands after handling any garbage).
- Relay key info to management, such as if a line is forming outside, if someone is drinking out of an outside bottle, and if someone appears to be underage or too rowdy.
Closing
- Clean and polish all glassware in machine.
- Restock all bar items (Paper goods, straws, liquor, wine, beer, & n/a beverages, etc).
- Clean all bar mats, guest placemats, and bring back to the bar.
- Empty wine bin, marry wines appropriately, cap/seal wine place back in appropriate wine fridge.
- Put away all liquor and beer deliveries that came in during the day.
- Unclog and clean all bar sinks.
- Take out the trash or recycling at end of the shift.
- Check in with Bartender before leaving.
