SUMMARY: The primary responsibilities are to provide academic instruction in five subject areas (Math, Writing, Reading, Social Studies, and Science) to a diverse group of nontraditional students who have various academic levels.
REQUIREMENTS: Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in math or science. 3 or more years teaching experience. ESL/ general teaching experience (certification preferred). Bilingual English/Spanish required. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Proof of COVID-19 Vaccination.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Create and develops curriculum, lesson plans, teaching materials, and
Individual Learning Plans to aid students in developing skills and confidence in HiSet academic areas. Seek information about current changes to the HiSet Test and current teaching materials, strategies, and techniques. Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities. Utilize curricula that reflect the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students served. Plan lessons and curriculum based on the learning needs of culturally diverse and multi-skill level students that prepare students to pass the HiSet tests. Create individualized curriculum for each student based on academic goals and abilities needed to pass the HiSet subject test(s). Provide individual and small group instruction on core subjects (Math, Writing, Reading, Social Studies, and Science). Implement a variety of instructional delivery methods, that include group and individualized instruction. Use instructional methods geared toward the nontraditional learner in a classroom setting. Incorporate lessons and skills that utilize the computer lab and programs. Plan and prepares relevant and practical class lessons that integrate potential careers and family wellness topics that enforces skills needed for the HiSet testing. Monitors and assesses students’ progress on a regular basis.
