Partners, an established and growing environmental, safety, engineering, and surveying consulting firm with offices in Solon and Akron Ohio, New Jersey, New York and Colorado, is seeking an EHS professional for an outsourced assignment, and possibly full-time employment, at a chemical manufacturing plant.

Position: EHS Specialist
Compensation: $60,000-$75,000 annually (based upon level of experience and education)
Summary: The EHS Specialist is anticipated to work at a chemical manufacturing site for a period of 12-months, at least 40 hours per week (starting on or about 1 December 2023). This person will report to the site’s EHS manager as well as the Partners’ Project Manager. The position may transition to a full-time position at the site after one (1) year.
Essential Duties
- Actively interact with employees and leadership to promote the safety culture.
- Initiate and influence integration of EHS policies and practices into the facility.
- Conduct routine reviews to assess compliance with regulatory agencies and company EHS requirements.
- Manage aspects of the EHS training program, including developing effective training materials, delivering instructor led training, training record management, and new employee safety training.
- Actively mentor, lead meetings, and communicate with all levels within the organization.
- Lead/participate in incident investigations to determine the root cause, and working with senior support, implement sustainable corrective actions, sharing lessons learned across the site.
- Facilitate internal audits and self-assessments. Assist operations in addressing audit recommendations.
- Play a key role in the development and oversight of site’s EHS Teams. This includes leading the site’s Emergency Response Team.
- Develop and coordinate the execution of the site’s Industrial Hygiene programs.
- Actively identify and promote improvements that strengthen the site’s EHS programs.
- Lead initiatives as advised by site or corporate EHS leadership
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Environmental, Engineering, or a related field.
- 0-5 years’ experience in the EHS field, preferred manufacturing, or chemical setting.
- Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization and present in front of groups of employees.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and consensus standards (OSHA, DOT, NIOSH, ANSI, NFPA)
- Ability to make independent contributions, provide leadership, and influence.
- Demonstrated ability to problem solve and motivate change.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Basic understanding of key business metrics, key drivers, business vision, and manufacturing processes/challenges as applicable.
- Microsoft Office Suite proficiency.
