What are the responsibilities and job description for the Royalty Accountant position at PARTY CITY?
HOURS: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., plus additional as required.
PURPOSE OF POSITION: Responsible for accruals and reporting of royalties on license agreements for Anagram and Amscan; organizing and maintaining data required for reporting and for analysis on licensing. Other Special Projects as assigned by Manager or Controller related to Sales Reporting, Item Master, Inventory and other areas related to the accounting and sales reporting group.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position supports the structure, compliance, reporting and review of licensing, royalty administration for Anagram and Amscan. Separately special projects are completed for the Finance and Creative licensing functions. The percentage of time spent on each activity will vary according to the needs of the projects at hand and the departments. Specific tasks include:
- Responsible for accurate and timely internal and external royalty reporting by agreement and in aggregate:
- Monthly accruals of royalty expenses based on Anagram and Amscan sales reports and royalty rates as identified in license agreements.
- Preparation of monthly and quarterly licensor reporting details including incorporating affiliate reported sales and updating of statements of both internal and licensor specific forms.
- Coordinate payments of advances as well as monthly and quarterly earned royalties as necessary.
- Submission of reports to licensors.
- Reconciling of balances of accounts and licensor reports.
- Chargebacks to and from affiliate for earned royalties.
- Assist with ad-hoc sales reporting related to licensing.
- Organize and maintain contract files hard copy and electronic filing
- Interaction with the Licensing team and other areas within the company as needed in order to facilitate problem resolution and intra-company communication.
- Develop and Maintain Accounting manual which includes:
- Update procedures as needed in conjunction with Controller to ensure consistency within the department over time.
- Assist in the design and implementation of new systems and internal controls as required due to growth or changes in the company.
- Special projects, as they arise. As an example of areas that could be included in "projects" would be work with sales reporting, inventory, cost accounting, credit, general ledger, fixed assets, insurance, reporting, and any general accounting areas. These previous examples no not intend to be all inclusive.
