JOIN OUR TEAM AS AN EQUIPMENT OPERATOR II!
Performs work of more than ordinary difficulty in the operation of medium to heavy automotive equipment. Performs manual labor.

Essential Job Functions

In addition to the equipment operated by the lower class operator, employee will operate a tandem dump truck, asphalt patch truck, sand truck, spray truck, road sweeper, extendable arm mowers, A-boom mowers, batwing mowers, rotovator, seeder, mulcher, fork lift, 2-4 ton rollers, and tractors with box blades. May operate heavier equipment on a relief or trainee basis to acquire necessary skill and experience. Works in a variety of semiskilled and skilled tasks. Performs minor repair of equipment. Ability to lift and/or move up to 90 pounds and also push or pull heavy objects. Performs related work as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of public works automotive equipment and machinery.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and proper safety precautions.
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and techniques commonly used in various public works activities.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral or written instructions.
  • Ability and skill in dealing with the public and enforcing rules and regulations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to read technical manuals for comprehension.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 90 pounds and also push or pull heavy objects.

Minimum Requirements

PHYSICAL SKILLS: Ability to lift and/or move up to 90 pounds and also push or pull heavy objects. May use a handling device (dolly, cart, etc.) or work with another team member to lift and/or move excessively heavy objects. Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written and visual communication. Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time. Ability to climb, bend, squat, stoop, and walk frequently. Physical strength and ability to work long hours out-of-doors, occasionally under adverse weather conditions.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Must possess a High School Diploma or GED. Two (2) years experience in public works maintenance and/or construction work, one (1) year of which involves the operation of construction or related equipment.

TESTING TO BE ON THE TANDEM TRUCK, A-BOOM MOWER AND BATWING MOWER. OPERATIONS MANUAL MUST BE READ PRIOR TO TESTING. TESTING WILL BE HELD AT SHADY HILLS MAINTENANCE YARD, 15413 SHADY HILLS ROAD IN SPRING HILL. QUALIFIED APPLICANTS WILL BE NOTIFIED OF TESTING DATE. MANUALS ARE AVAILABLE AT THE PUBLIC WORKS MAIN OFFICE IN NEW PORT RICHEY AND AT "C" BARN OFFICE IN SAN ANTONIO.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS: Must possess a valid Florida Class B Commercial Driver's License with Air Brakes.
