Job Title: Quality Director
Reports To: Chief Operating Officer
Summary: The Quality Director position is responsible for developing and implementing quality assurance
processes, quality control processes, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and leading the team in quality improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in quality management, a passion for process improvement, and the ability to develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders. The Quality Director will be responsible for all aspects of quality across the company to include the core business activities of design and automation integration, as well as the production activities associated with the non-core business functions. The Quality Director will also have significant input on the picking of key KPI’s to drive the company’s success as we continue to grow the business while using the Quality Management System to maintain controls and efficiencies during the growth.
Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the overall leadership/management, direction and coordination of the company product quality conformance activities.
  • Plan, direct, implement and monitors processes and procedures to meet quality customer requirements in the areas of production, supplier management and product development.
  • Initiates and monitors processes and quality improvement projects for continuous improvement.
  • Support other departments in quality technical methods and procedures.
  • Maintains and improves processes described in the documented business system.
  • Assures that policies, plans, programs and an organization structure are in place to meet the quality assurance requirements of customers. Revise these as needed to adapt to the changing business objectives and conditions.
  • Assures a process exists to collect information and uses that information to provide a measurement of product quality and drive corrections and improvements.
  • Develops and implements new quality methods and tools to establish best in class quality business system.
  • Responds quickly and decisively to corrective action to requests both internally and externally generated.
  • Provides support to the new product development and sustaining engineering functions to meet product quality expected by customers and provide information to those groups that will be used to result in product designs that better meet customer requirements.
  • Maintains and improves processes described in the documented business system.
  • Develops realistic cost center cost estimates for the development of budgets. Assures expenses stay within budgeted levels.
  • Oversee company-wide improvement initiatives to increase performance and efficiency in Quality processes and systems.
  • Identify and monitor key performance indicators for Quality and drive improvement initiatives.
  • Manage and provide leadership to Quality team members across operating groups.
  • Provide reporting of Quality initiatives and KPIs to senior leadership
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business management, quality management, engineering or a related field
  • At least 5 years of leading a quality team, with a proven record implementing quality policies that drive change, improved quality and customer satisfaction
  • Experience in automation integration and/or manufacturing with both joining and dimensional knowledge is strongly preferred
  • Must be self-motivated/directed. Required to determine most, if not all, of own work assignments; both tactical and strategic. Requires minimal management input to achieve objectives.
  • Experience in organizations with strong engineering departments and processes is also strongly preferred
  • Very strong knowledge of quality tools and processes for problem solving and root cause analysis is required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
Work Environment: This position operates in both an office environment and plant environment.
Physical Demands: The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and be present on the plant floor or customer facility.
Direct Reports: This position will have 3 - 7 direct reports.
