PATH (People Assisting The Homeless) is seeking sharp and tech-savvy candidates to join our growing HR Team as a Human Resources Assistant. WHAT WE DO
Since its foundation in 1984, PATH has pioneered bold and effective approaches to assist people experiencing homelessness. PATH operates services throughout California, connecting our clients to a comprehensive continuum of homelessness prevention, street outreach, employment preparation and placement assistance, individualized case management, supportive services, interim housing, and permanent supportive housing.
WHAT IS A HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANT?
The HR Assistant provides support to a range of human resources functions within PATH’s HR Department. Responsibilities of the HR Assistant include:
- Reviewing, preparing and assuring the maintenance of employee personal records and files
- Supporting new hire orientations including preparation and coordination during the day of
- Providing general clerical and administrative support to the department such as compiling information, preparing correspondences, assisting with the scheduling, coordination and preparation for meetings
- Assisting with a range of HR functions as requested by including within staffing, benefits, and payroll and on special projects
- Assisting with the coordination of training workshops for current PATH employees
- Assisting with HRIS issues and troubleshooting
- Providing assistance to employees for HR related needs or concerns either directly or by connecting them to the correct party or resource
- Maintaining HR inventories
- Maintaining on-going requirements for employees such as current TB tests and DMV record checks
WHAT YOU BRING
We’re looking for candidates that:
- Demonstrate considerable working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Have some knowledge in the following areas:
- The principles, practices and techniques of human resources
- Benefits and/or payroll administration
- Statistical analysis and other research methods and procedures
- Effectively follow written and verbal instructions
- Display strong organizational skills and analytical skills including the ability to maintain complex records and prepare reports form such records
- Maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees, the public and representatives of other agencies while dealing with complex and stressful situations
- Work just as well independently as they do on a team
- Exercise mature judgement, and are highly motivated, self-starting and proactive
- Are excellent at communicating, whether in writing or verbally
- Have a strong sense of prioritization and can coordinate multiple demands in a high-pressure environment
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS
For this role the HR Assistant must:
- Hold an Associate Degree or equivalent and have at least 2 years of related experience OR have an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Be able and willing to work flexible hours which may include evenings or weekends
- Have employment eligibility verification
- Have or be able and willing to obtain CPR/First Aid training
- Have reliable transportation and:
- A valid driver’s license
- Proof of insurance and ownership for personal vehicles used during work duties
- The ability to qualify for PATH insurance coverage
- Successfully complete the following as a condition of hire:
- Tuberculosis Test
- Background Screening
- Drug Test
