Credit Analyst / Underwriter
Scope of position:
Responsible for assessing credit requests and producing a loan offering memorandum after undertaking a thorough and careful analysis of a variety of factors including a client’s financial information, income statements, cash flow history, current debt, and tax forms.
Work directly with clients to verify information provided and perform additional research on their financial history and future.
Provide a sound, independent and objective assessment of complex CRE loan transactions for acquiring, refinancing, repositioning or Development & Construction of a wide array of commercial real estate including owner occupied, multifamily, retail, office and industrial.
Duties and responsibilities include:
- Generate well-organized, thorough, and concise written credit memorandums.
- Complete thorough evaluations on various types of commercial real estate of varying sizes, generally assets greater than $5MM with most between $5MM to $20MM.
- Work to resolve property/borrower issues that arise during the underwriting process.
- Perform physical property inspections with clients and third-party-providers.
- Conduct reviews of third-party reports including appraisals, environmental and engineering reports.
- Work directly with borrower or borrowers’ contact to gather required financial information for credit review and approval by conducting buyer visits or telephone interviews.
- Participate in biweekly Credit Pipeline meetings to provide status on assigned deals.
To be considered, you will need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or in a related field.
- Minimum 3-5 years of current experience in financial management; experience in credit or loan evaluation.
- Experience in Commercial Real Estate Underwriting a plus.
- Computer literate: fluency in Microsoft Office programs with a high level of proficiency in Excel, specifically with financial modeling, pivot tables, discounted cash flow analysis and complex graphs.
- Exceptional analytical and statistical skills and knowledge of advanced accounting concepts.
- Strong verbal, interpersonal and negotiation skills, the ability to establish, nurture and build relationships and canvass or influence decisions towards achieving a defined goal.
- Ability to work under pressure; solve problems, make decisions, juggle underwriting of multiple deals, prioritize tasks, and meet required deadlines.
- Strong organizational skills, detailed-oriented and organized.
- Bonus can bring total compensation to $150,000
