About the Job: You will assist with the installation, maintenance, testing and verification of OSP Hardware and infrastructure. Activities include but are not limited to plant documentation, Radio Frequency (RF) active and passives, reading and understanding OSP diagrams/drawings, and taking and maintaining accurate field notes. - Perform sweep and balance testing on coaxial cable plant
- Install fiber optic enclosures, nodes and related equipment
- Node power supply activation and trouble shooting
- Performs coaxial and fusion splicing
- Utilize and troubleshoot standard OSP tools to include OTDR's, light meters, and signal strength meters
- Read and follow engineers’ instructions and specifications, maintain the scope of work on the project and adhere to safety procedures
- Interpret engineering drawings, on maps and in the field, and make recommendations for changes as required
- Understand and adhere to customer timelines by completing jobs in a timely manner
- Budget minded behaviors to review and ensure profitability on new, ongoing and completed projects
- Team player that coordinates and communicates activities with other employees, departments, and management
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must hold a valid state driver’s license and maintain a satisfactory driving record
- Must be able to obtain a DOT medical card
- Criminal background check and drug screening required
- When business needs require must have the ability to work overtime, including weekends, holidays, and off hours
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Knowledge of basic cable tools and OSP construction practices
- Knowledge of fiber optic and coaxial cable types, make-ups, and manufacturer specifications
- Knowledge of cable testing procedures and test equipment
- Ability to multitask and stay organized under pressure
- Able to read fiber schematics along with HFC maps and design prints
- High level of professionalism, including the ability to successfully navigate various personalities when working with customers, fellow employees, and the public
- Must be able to stand and walk for an 8-hour shift; sit in a vehicle and drive to various locations for extended periods of time; push, pull, and lift up to 75 pounds or more; must be able to work in all temperatures, climates, and weather conditions; must be able to work in heights and confined spaces
