Responsible for processing claims under personal and commercial lines insurance policies in Maine and New Hampshire. Investigate, evaluate, negotiate and make settlements on claims. Must possess the ability to promptly recognize coverage issues and take appropriate action while ensuring claim evaluations and negotiations are documented, and proper payments issued.
This opportunity is a hybrid role, where the candidate would work in the office 2 days per week and from home up to 3 days per week.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Requirements and duties:
- Prompt responses to all communications
- Apply knowledge of company policies, practices and procedures, and state insurance laws
- Ability to work off a diary system in accordance with company standards
- Able to work within an authorized authority level
- Learn to recognize and refer fraudulent claim activity
- Apply knowledge of company processes and procedures to explain requirements to callers
- Coverage issues are promptly recognized and appropriate action is taken
- Case reserves are accurately and promptly set
- Evaluations, assessments, negotiations are thoroughly documented
- Issue proper payments
- Adheres to settlement authority based upon experience
- Subrogation opportunities properly identified and referred
- Potential fraudulent activity properly identified and referred
- Attend and participate in team meetings and special projects as needed
- Maintain self-control in difficult situations
- Communicate over the telephone in a courteous and pleasant manner, projecting confidence with a positive tone
For Auto Claims:
- Process first party collision and comprehensive automobile claims
- Process third party, clear liability property damage claims
- Evaluate coverage, investigate and determine liability
- Identify injury exposures
For Property Claims:
- Assign adjusters and experts, and review all reports for accuracy and completeness
- Process some first party homeowner claims without independent adjusters

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION:
4 year college degree or equivalent experience.
EXPERIENCE:
At least one year working in situations requiring customer service and automated systems
SKILLS:
- Familiar with window-based PC applications
- Capable of analyzing information presented and making decisions based on company guidelines
- Knowledge of company policies and procedures pertaining to processing clear liability automobile claims or first party homeowner claims
- Knowledge of automobile policies in the states of ME and NH
- Strong verbal and written communication skills required
- Superior organizational skills required
