Summary:  The Restoration/Mitigation Technician delivers exceptional customer service through emergency and restoration services.  The Technician is an initial responder to homes and businesses experiencing property and contents damage. As a first responder, technicians can arrive onsite day or night any day of the year.  The team:  provides assurance to the home/business owner; assesses the situation; creates a work plan; executes the plan to - perform necessary demolition and required equipment set-p/monitoring - to begin the process of returning the customers premises to pre-loss condition.  Successful technicians follow a path and have/obtain job specific IICRC certifications allowing additional growth, responsibilities and compensation within the company. 


Essential Responsibilities/Tasks:

  • Professionally represent the Paul Davis principles of honesty and integrity
  • Perform any and all directives from Mitigation Manager
  • Respond to emergency losses
  • Perform Emergency Water Extraction and Drying Services (including water extraction, demolition, moisture testing, developing drying plans, and providing project documentation)
  • Assist in Emergency Fire/Smoke Services (to include demolition, cleaning, deodorization, inventorying, pack outs, board-ups, and securing the structure)
  • Assist in Mold Remediation (including demolition and cleaning)
  • Assist in preparation and completion of Carpet/Upholstery Cleaning
  • Participate and fulfill on-call rotation as needed, typically one weekend per month and one weeknight per week (responding to after hour emergencies)
  • Perform basic vehicle, equipment, and building maintenance
  • Able to safely climb a ladder
  • Able to lift at least 75 pounds
  • Able to work in confined spaces
  • Able to work around a variety of chemicals without any adverse reaction or sensitivity


Performance Standards:

  • Documentation of all work processes and policies
  • Work performance in accordance with the laws and regulations in the jurisdictions in which Paul Davis Restoration operates
  • All work will be performed according to company policies, and up to Paul Davis Restoration standards
  • All work will be performed in accordance with OSHA safety regulations pertaining to this work
  • Customers will be treated in a courteous and professional manner. All communication with customers will be informative and courteous
  • Employees ALWAYS "displaying our brand with pride", by wearing furnished company uniform and ensuring uniforms are kept in good condition
  • Employees will behave in a professional and mature manner when representing this company. (NO profanity, NO smoking NO horseplay, etc.)
  • All job-related documentation will be brought up to date daily and placed in the proper location according to the next action to be taken
  • Company equipment and vehicles will be kept neat, clean, and in working order at all times
  • Must have basic computer skills, as well as the ability to use a smartphone and IPAD/Tablet to input data and make reports
  • Must be detail-oriented and have the ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Must have good communication skills, both written and verbal.


Needed/Helpful Supporting Documentation:

  • Documented experience in water, fire, mold mitigation, and/or related field
  • Prior knowledge of construction assemblies/practices
  • High school graduation/equivalent (i.e., GED, etc.)
  • Valid Driver’s License and copy of current driving history issued by the DMV
  • Evidence of specific training and experience to satisfy qualifications
  • No felony criminal history


Examples of Assigned Work Areas: Multi-story homes and businesses including attics, basements and crawl spaces. Strength requires the ability to exert force 20 - 100 lbs. frequently or 10 - 40 lbs. constantly. May involve significant standing/walking/crouching/pushing and or pulling.


Physical Demands: Occasional climbing, balancing, crouching, frequent stooping, reaching, kneeling, handling, smelling and hearing.

Vision: Frequent near and far acuity, depth perception and color vision.


IICRC Certifications:  Progress within the industry and company include successful completion and application of applicable IICRC Certifications.  Having these Certifications upon employment are helpful but not required.

  • Water Restoration Technician (WRT) - REQUIRED FOR INCREASED PAY RATE
  • Applied Structural Drying (ASD) - REQUIRED FOR INCREASED PAY RATE
  • Applied Microbial Remediation (AMRT) - REQUIRED FOR INCREASED PAY RATE
  • Fire & Smoke Technician
  • Carpet & Upholstery Technician
  • EPA Lead Paint Remediation Certification
  • Subrogation Training
