The Venmo Risk Strategy team is at the front line of identifying and targeting fraud to keep tens of millions of Venmo users secure and engaged. Together, we are accountable for the logical and statistical solutions that detect, prevent, and mitigate financial risk in real time across all Venmo products and payment flows. We are looking for a new Director level manager to lead our team!
Job Description:
As the Venmo Risk Strategy Director, you will:

Lead a team of >25 talented Risk decision scientists and Risk Strategy managers, each of them responsible to mitigate financial fraud in a different part of the business using analytical and statistical tools. You will also be responsible for their growth career development, for headcount planning, manager development, and for guiding overall work prioritization.

Own a key business metric that impacts Venmo's bottom line - our fraud exposure budget.

Keep Venmo safe from new fraud vectors while our company grows, and as we launch new products, merchant integrations, and unique financial services.

Lead yearly and quarterly planning for Financial Risk mitigation at Venmo across various dependencies, including budgeting, coordinating, and prioritizing large scale projects.

Work across Venmo and PayPal to advance the abilities and platforms for financial fraud mitigation - including Product, Engineering, Data Science, Operations, Finance, Marketing, and Leadership.
Requirements

Typically requires a minimum of 15 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 12 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 8 years experience; or equivalent experience in an analytical, mathematical, or technological field.

Experience acting as Senior Manager, Director, or equivalent

6-10 years of experience in people management, including people development, manager development, talent retention, and headcount planning

Experience in financial planning, roadmap planning, and roadmap execution across multiple teams and functions

Experience in collaborating effectively with various functions
-
Excellent verbal and written communications skills, as well as strong organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications

Experience in Financial Risk management, especially in Consumer Fraud

Experience in fintech / online payments platforms, especially mobile payments

Strong analytical abilities, including effectively translating and communicating analytical results to leadership

Experience in leading teams through dynamic situations

Experience leading large teams across multiple locations and time zones

Acting as a Director level in a previous role
