Job Description:
Reporters immerse themselves in a community and find stories that matter to people. They file stories daily, stay ahead of the competition and produce features and projects that reflect their beat command. They work where the story is, covering breaking news and ongoing developments, conducting interviews and capturing sound and video in the field. They build relationships with various sources and contacts in the community. Reporters will regularly contribute to our public radio station with opportunities in TV, as well. These are local news beats doing field reporting and are not remote positions.
Responsibilities:
Research, conduct interviews, write and edit news stories and scripts for broadcast, streaming and digital platforms.
Respond to breaking news or developing stories on your beat.
Use social media accounts -- Instagram, Twitter. Facebook -- as an extension of your work.
Work with editors to develop and implement a consistent, reliable multi-platform content plan.
Work to develop the beat with editors, and pitch and produce stories with impact.
You'll regularly contribute to our public radio station with opportunities in TV, as well.
Qualifications:

High journalistic standards and news judgment.

Able to work different shifts as demanded by news coverage or other editorial responsibilities. You must be able to fill weekend shifts and work within assigned deadlines.
As you will be your own vehicle on a regular basis, a valid driver's license and a good driving record as determined by a driver's license background check is required for this position.
Education: Bachelor's degree preferably in Journalism, English, or Communications and/or equivalent work experience.
Working Conditions:
May be asked to work longer hours and occasional weekends with short notice.
You'll work in our office/studio in Bethlehem, PA a couple of days a week.
