PCI Productions is searching for a Writer/Editor who will be responsible for a broad range of media coverage and Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) at NASA Headquarters, Washington D.C. This is a hybrid role that will require some on-site work when needed. If requested, the Writer/Editor must be available to travel, and work nights, holidays, and weekends.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Build relationships with NASA stakeholders and provide communication support for the OCIO
- Support the planning and development of media programs and activities designed to ensure widespread recognition of NASA’s expertise, capabilities, projects, programs, and people
- Provide media relations and public affairs support through a variety of communication products and services, ranging from speaking engagements, press conferences, media roundtables, print, radio, and television, to digital and social media
- Research, develop, and recommend portfolios of media relations and public affairs products with potential high strategic value or opportunities that could or should be added to implement strategic objectives
- Plan, develop, write, proof, edit, disseminate, and maintain a comprehensive suite of media products
- Communicate complex scientific, technical, mission, and/or program information in an easily understood manner
- Handle multiple and complex projects simultaneously under tight timelines and changing priorities/rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish tasks
- Provide analysis and assessments of the internal and external environments in which NASA operates and identifies relevant issues and trends
- Generate routine and/or ad-hoc reports for OCOMM management/OCOMM customers
- Directly interface with OCOMM management and/or OCOMM customers, as needed
REQUIREMENTS
- Must be a U.S. citizen (eligible for a security clearance)
- Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, writing, or other appropriate area of specialization from an accredited college or university
- At least 10 years of relevant experience
- Advanced oral and written communication, including writing and editing
- Must be proficient in AP-style writing
- Advanced problem-solving skills
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The physical demands described herein are representative of those which may need to be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Employees must possess the ability to work in an office environment.
If required, employees must be able to operate a motor vehicle which may require sitting for prolonged periods of time to visit other company sites. Must have hearing and speech to communicate in person, before groups, and over the telephone. Standing in work areas and walking between work areas may be required. This position may require an employee to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb or balance, reach, push, and pull. The employee may also be required to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
