Here's how a(n) Chief Estimator for our Seattle office contributes to our team:
Responsibilities
- Leads estimating team and works with senior management to execute and monitor department success and district goals.
- Assist with development and execution of long-term strategic plan for the Seattle business unit..
- Works with business development and district managers to qualify high-potential opportunities, and assists in securing new work by investigating leads, participating in estimates, working with trade contractors, and participating in proposals and presentations.
- Identifies and targets relationships with rainmakers in the trade contractor, client, and consultant communities.
- Provides leadership and guidance by defining, implementing, and monitoring district estimating resources, guidelines, best practices, and procedures for the department.
- Ensures resources, guidelines, and standards are developed, implemented, measured, and followed for best practices estimating services.
- Reviews project cost reports for historical information, for the relevant disciplines to use in strategic bid-win strategies.
- Reviews contract documents and specifications to determine project requirements and identify risk factors.
- Ensures estimate turnover occurs on successful projects, and assists in resolving estimating challenges.
Qualifications
- Postsecondary degree or diploma in a related discipline or trade experience or equivalent.
- Gold Seal certification in estimating required (CDN).
- 15 years of progressive experience in construction cost estimating preferred. Executed multiple jobs as risk manager or in a position at an equivalent responsibility level in the estimating stream.
- 5 years of supervisory experience preferred.
- Successfully led a highly complex pursuit valued at $250 million in delivery model hard bid / lump sum, construction management / cost reimbursable / target price, and/or design-build.
- Experience working with highly complex pursuits.
- Design management experience
- Expert in various construction methods, planning, scheduling, sequencing, potential problems and timelines, and is a district champion in these matters.
- Experience developing complex estimating and buyout strategies
- Experience estimating multiple self-perform work disciplines and knowledge of each.
- Experience developing and implementing strategy to advance technology and innovation to products/techniques and estimating/preconstruction workflow. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders and decision makers.
- Travel requirements are minimal, but may require ~5-10% annual travel for meetings with key clients and industry events.

Salary range for this position is $153,000 to $205,000 dependent on experience.
