About us
Peace of Mind Dog Rescue is a nonprofit organization. We are a resource and advocate for senior dogs and senior people on California’s Central Coast. We focus on helping dogs and people from Monterey, Santa Cruz, and San Benito counties.
We find loving homes for dogs whose guardians can no longer care for them and for senior dogs in shelters. We also provide volunteer and financial assistance so seniors can keep their pets with them as long as possible. In addition, we make pre-arrangements to take in dogs should their guardians become unable to care for them.
Hours: part-time and on-call positions available

Peace of Mind Dog Rescue (POMDR) is looking for an experienced veterinarian for our state-of-the-art clinic located in Monterey, CA. POMDR is a non-profit organization dedicated to advocating for senior dogs and senior people on California's Central Coast. Our vet clinic will provide services to the 100 dogs in our care at any given time. We provide complete medical and dental care to all dogs in our program.
Qualifications:
- Dental and Surgical skills necessary
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work in a small clinic environment with volunteers
- Self-motivated
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Passion for helping senior dogs and senior people
- Rescue/Shelter/Senior Dog Experience
- Affinity for and experience with senior dogs
- Experience with volunteering, animal rescue, animal welfare, nonprofit a plus
- We require a working interview as part of the hiring process
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $500.00 - $900.00 per day

- Are you proficient at veterinary surgeries including large dog spays, enucleation, mass removal, inguinal hernia repair, dentals, cystonomy.
Education:
- Doctorate (Required)
Experience:
- Veterinary Experience: 5 years (Preferred)
License/Certification:
- DEA Certification (Preferred)
