JOB SUMMARY
The Registered Nurse plays an integral part on the leadership team at Peaceful Lodge. He/she will provide direction and leadership to our team of professionals and caregivers. This includes overall responsibility and accountability for the strategies of quality nursing services and overall medical operations of the Peaceful Lodge community include training, coordination of resident care, assessments, management of medication, and being the liaison between the residents/families and physicians. The RN coordinates and supervises nursing personnel to deliver nursing care which will ensure that resident’s needs are met in accordance with the professional standards of practice through physician orders, community policies and procedures, and federal, state and local regulations and established nursing best practices.
JOB FUNCTION
Manage Assisted Living Facility including completing essential paperwork and complying with state regulations.
· Works to assure facility is in compliance with federal state and local standards and regulations as well as lead all license surveys.
· Keeps forms updated including policies, procedures, Bill of Rights, and related home care forms and manuals
· Meets with Case Workers as needed or as back up to RN Supervisor.
· Maintains an up-to-date knowledge of current trends of Assisted Living
· Investigates and reports incidents of suspected client neglect and/or abuse and reporting these findings to CEO and/or appropriate county officials.
· Works to maintain privacy and confidentiality of client, client’s records and client’ Lodge environment.
- Completes initial assessments as well as 14 and 90 days reviews.
- Implements service agreements with all new clients. Reviews and revises service plan as needed.
- Assures clients have up to date care plans. Reviews and revises care plans as needed.
- Monitors and maintains client charts and nursing notes.
- Communicates to physicians and other personnel (county caseworkers) any changes in client’s needs or conditions.
- Monitors and follows through with ordering medications and all medication renewals as well as any necessary follow-up with physicians regarding medications and/or medical conditions.
- Assures all physicians orders are signed and implemented within 24 hours.
- Documents disposal of medication per procedure.
- Assures compliance with regulations and is available for federal and state licensure surveys.
- Lead the development of policies and procedures and implementation of them.
Supervision of other nursing and Unlicensed Personnel
· Supervises, trains and regularly tests and evaluates unlicensed staff’s competencies in home care skills and their capabilities to meet each client’s individual needs.
· Gives input and/or helps perform annual evaluations for nursing and unlicensed personnel staff.
· Supervises, disciplines, and terminates unlicensed personnel.
· Coordinates staff education to include at least 8 hours of in-services per year.
- Provides health and medication training to all new employees as well as continued education for all staff and documents such training to assure compliance with state, federal and local regulations.
- Assures that staff clearly understand and follow all Home Care procedures.
- Monitors staff for compliance of monthly client treatments as scheduled.
- Supervises medication practices and medical equipment being used by home care clients.
- Assures that medication administration procedures are followed properly and discusses any needed corrections, errors, etc., with staff.
- Monitors medication practices and regularly audits medication inventory to prevent abuse and misconduct.
Serve as a leader and effective team member to meet Peaceful Lodge’s mission and business objectives
- Exhibits and models leadership behaviors as well as professional expectations for all staff
- Take initiative to identify and work with management team to effectively address staff issues as needed
- Develop and maintain a positive working relationship with staff including providing backup to other staff as needed.
- Articulate information regarding clients to the team.
- Assists other departments with special events and family functions.tees, etc.

- Responds appropriately to safety hazards, fire drills and other emergency situations.
- Reports injuries for self, staff, clients or visitors immediately to CEO and RN Supervisor.
- Keep CEO informed and involved and advised of needs and problems.
REQUIREMENT
· A Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or related field is required. A Master’s Degree in a related field is preferred.
· Must have an active RN license in good standing
· 5 years of nursing experience with at least 2 years in a supervisory role
· Experience supervising a team of medical professionals – PCAs, CNAs, LPNs, and/or Nurse Practitioners
· General knowledge of the state of Minnesota assisted living compliance – including licensing, auditing, and reporting
· Must have the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, families, medical doctors, vendors, and community members
· Ability to work in a diverse working environment including diverse residents
· Experience working with older adults in a senior living and/or assisted living capacity is preferred
· Ability to work in a team environment
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills
· Ability to work in a fast-paced working environment and prioritize
· Advanced knowledge in the Microsoft Suite – Words, Excel and PowerPoint
