Feed Mill Worker

Position Overview:

To manufacture, inspect, sell, and deliver feed and related products in a manner that will optimize the cooperative’s market share and savings, improve the cooperative’s efficiency, help achieve the cooperative’s mission and goals, and result in outstanding customer service. The Production Team member’s responsibilities involve operations, deliveries and pick-ups, sales and service, safety and maintenance, and other duties as assigned by management. The team member will maintain a positive attitude that promotes teamwork within the cooperative and a favorable image of the cooperative. Excellent organizational skills, proficiency in multi‐tasking, and the ability to resolve complex problems are essential in this role. This position is ideal for someone that works extremely well individually and, in a team, setting.

Duties include:

Operations

Operations involves assisting in the efficient operation of the mill and warehouse.

· Assist with mix schedule and prepare mixes to specifications in a timely manner

· Maintain equipment on a regular schedule to avoid breakdowns and anticipate and plan for major overhauls requiring shut downs

· Maintain quality of mixes above standards

· Take ingredient and customer mix samples and retain them for future reference

· Account for each mix or other service provided by writing order, sales, or transfer tickets to ensure accurate inventory control

· Receive inventory, store it, and keep it saleable

· Communicate inventory items which should be ordered

· Attend product training and company meetings as requested

Deliveries and Pickups

Deliveries and pickups involve delivering and picking up orders as assigned.

· Ensure invoices or transfer tickets are made out prior to loading or delivery

· Deliver product to and pick up product from specified locations

· Inspect all feeds as they are being loaded and unloaded

· Verify all items listed on the transfer or sales ticket are loaded and delivered

· Provide the customer with an accurate invoice and exceptional service

Sales and Service

Sales and service involves providing customer service that will result in greater sales.

· Greet customers promptly and courteously with a friendly smile and a hello, and thank them for their business

· Assist customers with unloading and loading

· Promptly and courteously answer the phone

· Work with customers to resolve problems and report complaints to your supervisor

· Actively work to increase personal skills and knowledge

Basic Qualifications:

· Have a working knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, and maintenance.

· Have experience in providing quality customer services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

· Must have a CDL, Class A preferably. Along with a clean driving record.

· Must be able to watch gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure machine is working properly.

· Must be good at troubleshooting to determine causes of operating errors and deciding how to handle them.

· Must exercise good judgment and decision making. Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.

· Needs to be able to work independently to manage one's own time and the time of others.

· Excellent organizational skills, communications skills, the ability to multi‐task, and most importantly, the ability to work well in a team.
