Purpose Summary
The Benefits Specialist manages the health and wellness plans and benefit programs for all school staff throughout their entire employee life cycle.
Core Tasks and Responsibilities
- Manage the employee benefit programs and ensure proper administration and communication of all programs including, but not limited to medical, dental, vision, life insurance, AD&D, FSA, and 401(k).
- Support school staff through enrollment, life events and understanding of their benefits.
- Deliver, design, coordinate new hire and manager education programs related to benefits.
- Serve as the content manager of the benefits website & Virtual Library
- Manage, administer, and audit state specific health plans (SC)
- Manage benefit programs including Tuition Reimbursement, Adoption Assistance, etc.
- Manage the paid time off policies and ensure adherence to state laws and requirements; support employees with questions related to paid time off.
- Manage the annual 401(k) census, ADP and ACP Testing, and third-party audit of the plan; manage the employer match payment.
- Handle retirement & pension plan inquiries and ensure accurate processing of request.
- In conjunction with the pension processors, ensure timely and accurate reporting/payments for all state pension plans.
- Act as point of contact and web administrator where applicable for all state pension agencies.
- Oversee the PPS team in the processing of life events
- In conjunction with PPS team, manage the processing of all employee terminations including accurate final pay processing for benefits as required by state law.
- In conjunction with PPS team, perform regular internal audits and reconciliation tasks such as 401(k), HSA, and FSA reconciliations, ACA reporting, and invoicing
- In coordination with PPS team, oversee timely and accurate processing of all carrier and vendor invoices
- Assist with preparation and delivery of annual open enrollment process.
Required Skills, Experience, and Competencies
- 5 years of Benefits experience
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both orally and in writing
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and to prioritize, thriving in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
Key relationships
- Maintains effective relationships with external vendors and partners
- Works closely with Benefit Specialist, Partner Team, Payroll Team, School Stakeholder, PPS Team
As required by the Colorado Equal Pay Transparency Act, Pearson provides a reasonable range of minimum compensation for roles that may be hired in Colorado. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. For the state of Colorado only, the pay frange of pay for this role is $50,0000 to $55,0000.
