We are looking for a self-driven, ambitious, tech-savvy individual to join our team to support our global employee communication efforts. This person will help elevate our employer brand through storytelling while ensuring consistent employee communications. This role will specifically focus on telling the Pearson story from the inside out, helping to bring our purpose and values to life, while showcasing our people and learners.
In this role, you will report to the VP of Global Employee Communications. You will flex across the team to help us develop and draft communication materials for employee distribution, support global company initiatives and events, and create consumer-grade digital content to share on corporate social media. This role will also partner with key stakeholders on cross-functional projects, such as rolling out a new company brand and embedding our purpose and values into everything we do.
Key Job Functions
- Creative Design—You bring our purpose, values, and brand alive in fresh and unexpected ways by creating vibrant and compelling multimedia. You’ll create content for internal/external comms, and employee campaigns including presentation slides, print, digital and motion graphic design, photography, videography, audio, social media content and newsletters.
- Copywriting/copyediting—You write and edit original articles, creative headlines as well as clear, concise descriptions/subheads and engaging body copy for digital and social media. You will be expected to own your content from the first draft, delivering high-quality content that doesn't require multiple rounds of edits.
- Concepting/Ideation—You pair up with members of the employee comms team and bring fresh creative ideas to the table, thinking strategically and creatively before the writing even starts.
- Simplicity—You know how to distill complex information into clear messaging. You understand how copy and design need to work together.
- Execution—You deliver a regular cadence of stories for the Hub intranet. You ensure proper and timely execution on creative design.
- Relationships—You promote collaboration. You build and maintain positive relationships with both teammates and stakeholders alike. You look for ways to cross-pollinate internal content with social media programs and across external channels.
- Presenting—You persuasively present concepts and projects, both internally and to clients in writing, in person, or virtually.
- Quality driven—You hold your work to the highest of standards. You follow processes for style, proofing, and brand compliance. You maintain style guides and templates.
What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)
- At least 5-7 years of design, copywriting, and graphic design experience, preferably in marketing or journalism
- Expert in photo and video software, including Adobe Creative Suite and Office 365 tools
- Experience with HTML and CSS preferred
- Writing, communication, and presentation skills
- Deep understanding of brand narrative and storytelling
- Able to defend and rationalize creative decisions and interpret feedback
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task across different projects
- Strong project management, time management, and attention to detail
- Individual must be able to work autonomously as well as be part of a team
- Good at juggling priorities and managing time to achieve a balance of creativity and quality, while respecting timings and budgets
- Ability to work on a wide range of deliverables across every channel and across different brands and verticals. You’re able to shift tone and voice accordingly
Requirements:
- You will be working with a global team and in a hybrid/remote environment
- Some travel required (10%)
- Must submit a digital portfolio showcasing creative (digital traditional) and copywriting work
