What are the responsibilities and job description for the Editorial Administrator position at Pearson?

The Editorial Administrator role is a great entry into the Educational Publishing industry. It is a diverse role with responsibilities across many functional areas, internally and externally. In this role, you will work closely with Content Strategists, Product Managers, Authors, Sales & Marketing, Production Managers, and a variety of other functional areas. Your responsibilities and contributions will span the entire product lifecycle from idea to release of best-selling learning resources. On-the-job training will help you along your journey.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with Content Strategists throughout the publishing cycle of a product from market research to publication.

  • Work closely with Content Strategist and Product Managers to create and monitor accurate product setup in a variety of systems.

  • Help maintain product data in internal systems and work on data projects across functional teams as needed.

  • Develop an understanding of interrelationships between systems to catch data issues prior to occurring.

  • Submit reprint corrections and help track diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) updates and issues.

Author/Contributor support:

  • Assist with market research projects including creating and deploying surveys, coordinating focus groups, and performing first-level analysis.

  • Maintain an accurate database of peer reviewers, market reviewers, and author and freelance workers such as developmental editors and technical editors.

  • Assist with setting up contracted workers and vendors to help facilitate contract set up and payment.

  • Assist with set up of author contracts for distribution and set up in royalty systems to ensure accurate royalty information is reflected. Assist with royalty issues and investigations.

  • This role introduces you to a variety of workflows with different degrees of priority that you can evaluate and prioritize with the team.

Self-Starter with Strong Problem-Solving Skills:

  • You diagnose issues and identify the steps to correct them effectively.

  • If you are unable to resolve an issue on your own, you show initiative and the ability to identify the problem. You feel comfortable asking for help when needed.

Always Learning:

  • You are comfortable learning new business systems and are proactive about participating in the training that Pearson offers. You are willing to troubleshoot issues for the team and share the systems skills that you have gained.

  • As we explore new business models and ways of working, you are willing to learn new processes and adapt to new workstyles.

Key Qualifications:

  • College degree, Associate degree, or equivalent work experience.

  • Candidate will be comfortable with technology, particularly the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PPT), and be able to learn new systems quickly.

  • Candidate will have strong communication skills, written, oral, and presentational.

  • Candidate will be able to interact professionally with customers, authors, reviewers, and cross-functional team members.

  • Candidate will meet deadlines consistently, have strong project management skills, and work well on both a team and independently.

The anticipated starting salary range for Colorado-based individuals expressing interest in this position is $21.5 This position is eligible to participate in an annual incentive program.
