What are the responsibilities and job description for the Funding Manager position at Pearson?
Primary Responsibilities
- Work strategically and creatively to open doors for the company to achieve its vision and mission
- Identify, submit for, and open access to additional funding options and mechanisms in various regions and sectors, with an emphasis on workforce skilling and learning product procurement opportunities. Define the go-to-market strategy for these items in relation to funding access and stipulations
- Support other team initiatives to access funding and define go-to-market strategy for ELL, personal finance, digital literacy, and other skills connected to legislative motions at scale.
- Organize and keep current existing portfolio of funding options and mechanisms
Product Strategy
- Provide analysis and guidance to product teams related to product planning and execution to ensure product/market fit and access to relevant funding opportunities
- Participate in ongoing research and analysis to expose gaps and opportunities in the product portfolio including certifications, exam preparation offerings, SKU configuration, pricing, and bundling strategies
Pricing, Budgeting & Reporting
- Become proficient in company reporting tools and support other business functions by providing reports and analysis as necessary
- Provide regular reviews of funding opportunities and progress made against goals in that space for stakeholders across the company
- Achieve annual revenue and sales goals, and support program reach metrics / goals
Communication / Collaboration
- Network and develop relationships with customers, influencers, policymakers, and professionals related to company offerings
- Train and serve as a resource to internal and external stakeholders, including sales, marketing, and product co-workers, as well as teachers, training providers, workforce centers, and industry contacts
- Support teams on assigned products with respect to new initiatives, new products, new features, target markets, and competition
- Support sales and marketing by creating presentations and demonstrations, and by serving as a ‘sales engineer’ or expert for significant opportunities
- Work with marketing and sales on campaigns to stimulate growth in specific regions and market sectors
- Leadership & Other Duties as Assigned
- Be a leader within the company, using holistic program(s) perspective to encourage good business decisions across all business units
- Establish thought leadership in the assigned space both internally and with external audiences
- Attend industry events in support of product research and advocacy; present if there is an opportunity
- Become an expert with respect to the competition, and lead research, innovation and positioning to gain competitive advantage
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
- Proven track record of driving short-term revenue and long-term solid growth strategies; also a track record of executing initiatives and overcoming obstacles
- Familiarity with government funding motions, including grants, legislative funding processes, lobbying and funding applications/approvals
- Experience in data analysis and secondary research
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to breakdown and organize complex problems
- Demonstrated negotiation, collaboration, and teamwork skills
- Demonstrated ability and desire to successfully work on a virtual team
- Proven ability to influence and work effectively in cross-functional teams without line authority
- Anxious to learn something new every day and eager drive results
- Preferred: Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Public Policy, Analytics, or comparable experience
- 5 years of professional experience with educational products or programs
- Preference if the candidate has obtained a related certification: IT Specialist Certification (any title), Entrepreneurship and Small Business Certification, or another certification in the family of Certiport or PearsonVue products
Compensation at Pearson is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific location. As required by the Colorado, California, Washington State, New York State and New York City laws, the pay range for this position is as follows:
Minimum full-time salary range is between $60,000 - $80,000.
