Pearson Channels Job Description: Commercial Product Manager
Come join an exciting new part of our company focused on direct-to-consumer experiences that benefit a world of learners. Pearson is a subscription-based app, launched in 2021, for students to access Pearson’s world-class eTexts. Students can subscribe to one eText on a monthly basis or pay more for access to our entire library. Channels is a new service within the app that helps students study by providing them with a range of curated, high-quality, short-form videos and practice questions.
As a Commercial Product Manager for Channels, you will be responsible for growing our content offerings in new courses. Activities will include working with content teams to determine the content strategy for a given course; working with content experts to identify a topical structure for the course as well as associated learning objectives; hiring subject matter experts to find and/or evaluate relevant videos and assessments; acquiring creator talent to either license or create video content; training content partners and subject matter experts about our content guidelines and processes for creating products; ensuring Channels content meets Pearson standards in terms of accuracy, breadth and depth, accessibility, diversity, equity, and inclusivity; working with production and development teams to ensure on-time launch; monitoring data and feedback about live Channels content to determine necessary adjustments to the content; suggesting functionality improvements to Channels to increase its value to learners; suggesting ways to improve efficiency and scalability of workflows; helping the team prioritize what content and experiences to deliver to customers and on what timelines.
To succeed in this role, you should be able to demonstrate the ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a fast-moving, agile workflow with partners from different functions. You should be comfortable working with evolving strategy and workflows. You should be able to work with data and customer feedback to advocate for improved learning experiences within the product. You should be passionate about finding and creating impactful, inclusive content and experiences that benefit students from a broad range of backgrounds. Experience in educational content or product development, product management, and/or content creation is preferred, though equivalent experience is also considered.
As required by the Colorado Equal Pay Transparency Act, Pearson provides a reasonable range of minimum compensation for roles that may be hired in Colorado. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. For the state of Colorado only, the range of starting pay for this role is $95,000 - 115,000 per year.
