What are the responsibilities and job description for the Science Item Writer position at Pearson?
As a Science Asset Writer for the Asset Creation team, you will develop content for K-12 assessments for our state and district clients. Our team develops standards-based assessments for students across the United States. We collaborate with education departments, committees of educators, and business partners to develop assessments of learningthat are accessible to all students. Science Asset Writers use their subject matter expertise to thoughtfully create real-world assessment content. We are looking forqualified science content creators for a writer-contractor pool with competitive, item-based pay.
Responsibilities
Develop original assessment items and stimuli aligned to specification documents and development assignments
Develop items and stimuli, in standalone and cluster/set formats, to specific grade levels, standards alignments, stimulus requirements, cognitive complexity and difficulty levels
Show creative use of technology-enhanced items
Enter assets into item banking platforms
Consistently meet asset deliverable deadlines
Review and edit assets based on feedback
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in education, science, or equivalent experience
Experience in elementary or secondary education in science preferred
Professional knowledge of science content and educational trends
Outstanding written communication skills and facility with business communications via telephone and virtual conferencing
Excellent planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Skill in basic software tools and technology and the confidence necessary to work with unfamiliar programs
Experience creating NGSS (3-dimensiotional standards) aligned content preferred
Experience creating large-scale assessment stimuli and items preferred
Experience writing quality summative assessment items preferred
