Summary:
As a Python Software Developer, you will be responsible for analysis, design, and implementation in a high-performing, experienced team. You will use industry best practices while producing high-quality full stack solutions in an agile, results driven environment. You will also be responsible for maintaining and supporting mission-critical applications as necessary. In this role you will have the opportunity to continually grow, mentor software developers, and challenge all of us to raise the bar even higher with your contributions to people, process, and technology. LOCATION: Remote - US
Responsibilities:
- Implement designs following Pearson coding standards and industry best practices; maintain and support mission-critical applications as necessary.
- Ensure requirement artifacts are created that effectively model the customer's requirements.
- Participate in and lead requirement, design, and code reviews.
- Work closely with other teams and stakeholders to release high quality software. Create testable requirements and write/execute unit tests.
- Participate in team initiatives to improve process and product quality in pursuit of excellence.
- Complete project documentation as required, including logging status, risk, progress, and effort on assigned work.
- Work with the team to migrate existing application (Play/Java/AngularJS) to new serverless technology stack on AWS (Python/React).
Qualifications:
Required Education and Technology
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or equivalent experience.
- Python development experience.
- Ability to navigate and understand Java and AngularJS code as part of application migration initiative.
- Programmatic interaction with relational database systems (mySQL).
- Experience with React or similar front-end frameworks.
- Experience with Amazon Web Services (Step Functions, Lambdas, API Gateway, S3, DynamoDB, SNS, SQS).
- Experience with REST services.

- Postman or similar tools
- Full stack development experience.
- Familiar with Serverless architectures.

- Experience working in an agile software development environment.

- Experience in creating design documents, performing code reviews and test-driven development.
- Desire to expand knowledge in many programming languages, applications, and tools.
- Proven ability to quickly learn new processes and tools, business domains and technical applications.
- Must develop effective relationships with internal and external contacts and work well within a team.
- Must be a self-starter and detail oriented.
- Must have effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Creative problem-solving skills.
As required by the Colorado Equal Pay Transparency Act, Pearson provides a reasonable range of minimum compensation for roles that may be hired in Colorado. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. For the state of Colorado only, the range of starting pay for this role is $75k - $80k. This position is eligible to participate in an annual incentive program, and information on benefits offered is here.
