Summary
We are looking for a systems support analyst to join our team at Pearson in the Evaluations Systems group which is part of Pearson VUE Assessments and Qualifications organization. As a systems support analyst you will work on software setup, troubleshooting, and analysis for the software and services that support the Evaluation Systems business which is focused primarily on developing teacher certification programs under state contracts. Evaluation Systems develops all aspects of certification programs including test/assessment design including assessment review conferences, registration, test delivery, portfolio assessment management, scoring and test results publishing and reporting. As a systems support analyst you will work on planned work like setting up software for business activities like assessment review conferences and you will work on system support tickets, and review system logs. When working on tickets you will communicate with the ticket requestor and collaborate with the software development team and manager. You will have the opportunity to develop automation for manual business processes in collaboration with the software development teams. Software developers and managers at Evaluation Systems value quality work and expect you to identify and promote best practices for the team to ensure quality.
What to demonstrate
- Experience working with a business software ticket system to effectively communicate progress, clarify requests, and identify necessary escalation
- Proficiency troubleshooting and debugging web applications (C#/Java/JavaScript) and analyzing database queries and stored procedures (T-SQL) using Microsoft Visual Studio and Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio.
- Collaboration with quality assurance, business software users, software developers
- Ability to give and receive respectful feedback
- Implementation of best practices for information security, scalability, maintainability, and efficiency in software and database change management
- Proficiency querying T-SQL databases, writing performant SQL queries and stored procedures
- Experience automating processes using PowerShell and other scripting languages
What you will do when you start
- Set up your complete local software environment with collaborators on the development team so that you can run, troubleshoot, and deep dive into the current software and services
- Participate in daily standup meetings with the development team, quality assurance, and business analyst and bi-weekly iteration and release planning
- Own work items tickets/defects/software setup and support and collaborate with software development team and manager to complete and receive feedback and learn efficient methodologies.
- Review upcoming software releases and provide analysis on feedback on any support concerns.
- Learn to prioritize work and when to escalate issues to management
Develop the knowledge and skills to work on the highest value and highest priority work through experience and regular feedback and direction from your manager.
Colorado, California, Washington State, and NYC-based and Remote Roles, no bonus or AIP:
Compensation at Pearson is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific location. As required by the Colorado, California, Washington State, and New York City laws, the pay range for this position is as follows:
Minimum full-time salary range is between $71,300 - $85,000.
