The Programmer / Developer is a proactive team player with a focus on continuous improvement to help troubleshoot, maintain, and modernize client business critical applications. Success in this role requires excellent organizational, technical, and communication skills in working with IT staff to analyze and address day to day issues. It also requires a high level of motivation and drive to learn and apply new methodologies and technologies to maintain and advance the organization’s application landscape.
This position is onsite and will be based out of our corporate headquarters in Tuscaloosa, AL.
Essential Functions
Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Analysis, development, and troubleshooting of Visual Basic / VB.NET applications and web services.
- Analysis, development, and troubleshooting of MS SQL Server SQL and Stored Procedures.
- Managing code via version control and release processes and procedures.
- Documenting and working issues, requests, enhancements, etc.
- Actively listening and participating in IT meetings, taking notes, and offering insights/suggestions.
- Collaboratively working with the organization’s team members on projects and tasks.
- Self-driven learning of technologies being adopted by the organization’s team.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Information Technology or work-related experience.
- 3 years of experience in programmer or developer role
- Ability to work through issues and solve problems pragmatically. Ability to analyze and troubleshoot issues spanning several processes and technologies.
- Adept in developing and debugging Visual Basic / VB.NET. Firm understanding of Visual Basic / VB.NET and supporting technologies.
- Adept in writing and debugging SQL and Stored Procs (SSIS/ETL is a plus).
- Must have a basic working knowledge of Microsoft Platforms to include: Office 2019 (all levels, Home & Business, Professional) to Current Version; SQL Server 2014 and beyond; Visual Studio 2010 and beyond; Visual Basic Version 6; Windows Desktop Operating Systems; Microsoft Power Bi
- Must have a basic working knowledge of Accounting Systems to include: Accounts Payable; Accounts Receivable; Payroll
- Ability to independently learn, understand, and apply new technologies.
- Ability to travel 10-15%
Preferred Qualifications
- Development experience in other programing languages
- Experience with Adobe are
- Experience with Crystal Reports are a plus.
- Experience with DevOps tools and processes
- Experience with Agile methodologies
