JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Teller
REPORTS TO: Teller Supervisor
Purpose: Perform limited transactional duties to serve members by receiving or paying out funds with high degree of accuracy. Maintain accurate transactional records, providing basic cash receipt and payment services in accordance with credit union policies and procedures. Promote credit union products and services based on member’s needs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Greet and welcome members and visitors to the credit union in a courteous, professional, and timely manner.
2. Enthusiastically support the credit union’s focus on member sales and service.
- Actively seek out sales opportunities and cross-sell opportunities and promote credit union products and services based on member needs.
- Consistendtly meet or exceed sales goals to support overall credit union sales and financial goals.
3. Provide comprehensive, prompt, accurate, and efficient member transactions.
4. Receive checks and cash for deposit to accounts, verify amounts, examine checks for proper endorsement, and accurately enter deposits into computer.
5. Process withdrawals from accounts and/or check cashing, verify amounts, and enter withdrawals into system accurately. Cash checks from a variety of accounts upon proper verification according to credit union policies and procedures.
6. Place holds on accounts for uncollected funds.
7. Issue travel cards, money orders, and bank checks.

8. Process transactions for Savings Bonds sold or redeemed.
9. Receive and process loan payments.
10. Balance cash drawer at the end of the shift and compare totaled amount to computer-generated proof sheet. Research and resolve discrepancies.
Report any discrepancies to the supervisor as necessary. May help other teller’s research and resolve discrepancies.
11. Balance ATM machine.
12. Ensure that the teller station is properly stocked with forms, supplies, brochures, etc.
13. Maintain an up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge on all credit union products and services that are handled or promoted by tellers. Maintain an up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge on all related policies and procedures, rules and regulations for the teller area, including robbery procedures.
14. Accept and process incoming mail.
15. Report malfunctions of teller terminals and other equipment used at the teller station to supervisor.
16. Process Federal Reserve cash orders & coin shipments. Ensure the currency shipment is received properly and counted. Ensure the coin shipment is properly counted and bagged.
17. Able to assist as Vault Teller when needed. (In Scranton only-balance & replenish ECR when needed)
18. Assist with problems concerning other departments.
19. Capable of training new tellers.
20. Open and close branch.
21. Represent and promote the credit union at external community and industry events, earning a minimum of 5 Community Involvement Points
(CIP’s) per year.
22. Cross-train and backup other team members for selected critical job functions.
23. Other duties as assigned.
