Summary


The Fiddler’s North Quarry Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the daily activities of the entire Quarry location.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Reports to Area Manager
  • Adhere to and follow all safety rules and regulations of MSHA/OSHA/DOT and Pennsy Supply, Inc.
  • Manage and review daily safety assignments (area inspections, pre-shifts, JSA’s, TRACK, etc).
  • Oversee and direct all operations at a crushing facility within the region.
  • Attend monthly meetings with Quarry Managers to review controllable variable costs, inventories, production schedules, employee issues, etc.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable law including but not limited to interviewing, hiring, training employees, planning, assigning and directing work, appraise performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Work with Maintenance Manager on planning of repairs to ensure the least amount of interruption as possible.
  • Enter mobile equipment deficiencies in CMMS and work with Mobile Mechanic manager to ensure least or interruption as possible
  • Understand and adhere to all environmental regulations.
  • Assist with exploration of aggregate reserves and quarry development.
  • Understand Quality Control to ensure quality product is produced.
  • Ensure proper placement of resources, including people and equipment.
  • Check daily with the plant operator on maintenance issues, obtain maintenance request forms and prioritize and enter into the maintenance program for the quarry operations.
  • Maintain accurate inventory control.
  • Conduct daily performance and safety meetings.
  • Approve time sheets daily as required.
  • Fill in as needed at any position in the quarry operations.
  • Ensure that all employees and contractors on site are following CRH safety policies.
  • Continually improve 5S practices and mindsets.
  • Perform daily safety and maintenance inspections at the site and plants.
  • Know and control Cost ( PEAK; Viewpoint; DF3)
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Current Driver’s License and reliable source of transportation.
  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, customers, and the general public at all times.
  • Report to the assigned job site ready to begin work at the designated start time.
  • Strict adherence to the Pennsy Supply, Inc. Safety Manual.
  • Strict adherence to the Pennsy Supply, Inc. policies and procedures as outlined in the employee handbook.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.


  • Excellent computer skills and proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Must possess valid PA driver’s license to travel to various locations
  • Able to follow direction and work effectively in a team environment
  • Able to respond to stressful situations and customers in a professional manner
  • Ability to effectively prioritize assignments to meet long-term and short-term deadlines
  • Able to write reports, document findings, and procedures, and to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and the general public


Education and/or Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Two or more years of experience, preferably in a management role within the construction industry, specifically in Aggregates production.

This job will require both office work and field work. While performing the duties of this job, the employee

occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to
