POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The employee will be required to perform developmental design engineering activities to improve current product and create new methods and process. Understanding of theories behind electromagnetism is essential. Further, understanding of materials with respect to their properties for stress, strain and deflection is also necessary. Analyzing data collected and data provided using statistics will also be required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Document specifications, schematics, and diagrams regarding their projects
• Design prototypes, troubleshoot potential issues, make changes to fix any issues, and create specifications and other details for these systems.
• Use their expertise to assist in the production of electrical systems; helping to avoid problems and addressing any issues that might arise in the manufacturing process Complete design engineering projects as necessary
• Designing and laying out new electrical systems
• Creating system models and simulations
• Testing new systems and making design changes if needed
• Producing necessary design reports and documentation
• Assisting in the manufacture of new electrical systems
• All other duties as assigned including but not limited to design of other types such as instrument transformer, potential transformer, and distribution transformer.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
• Must have good communication skills – oral and written
• Good computer skills, i.e. Microsoft Office, programming
• Strong understanding of Electrical Engineering concepts
• Ability to work independently or on a team
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics with high GPA
• Must have a good grasp of electromagnetism and stress, strain, and deflection of materials
PHYSICAL JOB DEMANDS
Lifting/carrying/moving 1-50 lbs. Involves sitting at a desk for extended periods of time. Manual dexterity to operate specialized equipment. Ability to hear telephone conversations and speak clearly. May need a high level of concentration in a busy area.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Monday through Friday Daylight hours. Overnight, weekend, overtime, and/or travel may be required.
