Cedarhurst, a regional healthcare provider and true friend of older adults, seeks a service-minded, career-oriented individual to join our team as a full-time Life Enrichment Specialist.
As the Life Enrichment Specialist, reporting directly to Corporate Director of Life Enrichment, you will have the opportunity to connect with, and positively impact the lives of our residents daily! You will assist in the responsibilities for the development and oversight of the companys person-directed Life Enrichment program, including its Memory Care model, in accordance with all regulatory agencies. You will also seek to increase awareness of Cedarhurst Senior Living and our mission to create communities where each person feels loved, valued, supported, and able to live life to the fullest.
As a Life Enrichment Specialist, you will impact the lives of our residents by
- Ensuring excellence in identified key performance indicators related to Life Enrichment.
- Supporting each Communitys Leadership, Life Enrichment and Regional Teams in optimizing each residents well-being.
- Utilize organizational analysis, regulatory compliance, staff development, Life Enrichment and Memory Care practices within each community.
- Support existing Cedarhurst Senior Living communities, and assist in training and development during the acquisition of communities and opening of new communities.
Essential Job Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities
- Support the Living TRUE and Memory Care models and demonstrate knowledge of programming initiatives and desired outcomes.
- Assist in monitoring effectiveness and managing Life Enrichment programs and provide feedback to the Corporate Director of Life Enrichment, ensuring that standards of practice are achieved.
- Utilize organizational analysis, regulatory compliance, staff development, Life Enrichment and Memory Care practices within each Community.
- Assist in developing and implementing new programs to meet the needs of the residents.
- Assists in meeting individual community needs and assists in re-defining the resident experience.
- Complete community site visits for training and provide follow up and support.
- Facilitate trainings to new Life Enrichment team members ensuring that the Life Enrichment standards and core values of Cedarhurst are met.
- Oversees community development initiatives as identified, including the implementation and monitoring of the electronic Life Enrichment and family engagement program, memory care programming, and other Life Enrichment related programs.
- Collaborates with department team members to set organization-wide quality improvement goals, plans, and initiatives on an ongoing basis and revises as needed.
- Provides guidance regarding Resident Rights concerns/grievances with residents, families, and employees
- Demonstrates competence in culture change and regulatory compliance, ensuring that each community stays in compliance with all regulatory agencies.
- Provides leadership in such a manner that represents key servant leadership principles, including effective listening, empathy, awareness, and persuasiveness.
- Attends corporate sponsored meetings and training sessions as required.
- Aligns his/herself with owners vision for service quality and value creation.
- Must exhibit and promote a high level of professionalism, teamwork, customer service, curiosity, and friendliness in all interactions with employees, residents, and visitors throughout the organization.
- Perform other duties as assigned
To become a Life Enrichment Specialist, you will need
- Five (5) or more years of experience in a senior care community with proven leadership and organizational skills preferred.
- Degree in recreation therapy, social work, gerontology, nursing, health administration or related field preferred
- Great analytical, communication and interpersonal skills are required along with the heart and passion to work with older adults while providing the best care possible.
- The ability to remain calm in stressful situations, be flexible, work well with many interruptions, and to effectively balance multiple projects at one time.
- Computer skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, Electronic Health Records applications (Caremerge is preferred), OnShift, as well as internet browsers.
- Substantial experience/training in Memory Care preferred.
- Strong knowledge of laws and restrictions regarding Assisted Living and Memory Care, as well as a solid understanding of opportunities and limits of other levels of care within senior living.
- The ability to make independent decisions, follow instructions, and accept constructive criticism.
This position requires frequent travel. Travel for an extended period may be required, locally or overnight. Typically, travel is planned; however, there may be times there is an unplanned, immediate need, for local and/or overnight travel. Ability to stay overnight in a destination for an extended period is required.
