What are the responsibilities and job description for the GENERAL ACCOUNTANT position at PEOPLE INC.?
Performs general ledger bookkeeping duties and administrative duties as a part of the Business Office staff while working under the supervision of the Vice President, as well as a variety of other internal departments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintains and reconciles all investment activity for the agency and prepares monthly journal entry to record, ensuring all reporting is available and accurate for Foundation Board Meetings.
- Maintains and reconciles FSA and Workers Comp Accounts for the Agency.
- Maintains and reconciles insurance activity for the agency and prepares monthly journal entry.
- Performs all bookkeeping duties as it pertains to Headway of WNY including budgeting, cash receipts and reconciliation of the bank account. Also responsible for preparation of the quarterly budget statement and serving as the agency liaison with Executive Director.
- Completes quarterly NYS Fuel Tax Refunds.
- Assists in the coordination and completion of annual census reports.
- Assists with year-end audit as needed providing the required schedules for investments, insurance, fixed assets and leases as well as all audit schedules for People First Mobility, People Enterprises and Headway.
- Assists Virtual Medical Corporation with accounting as needed.
- Provides Assistance with Month End Close as needed.
- Completes special projects as may be assigned.
- Reconciliation of the People Inc General Account.
- Responsible for insuring that all confidential and potentially sensitive information is processed, maintained and utilized according to procedures in a strict confidential manner.
- Complies with all agency policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor degree in Accounting and 3 years of accounting experience
- Excellent computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating, and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to interact with all levels of personnel
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Salary : $56,400 - $71,400
