MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Transfer Qualifications: Any current DDPS 1
Any permanent employee eligible for a 70.1 transfer.

Minimum Qualifications: On or before the date of examiantion, you must be a qualified employee of the New York State Office for People With Developmental Disabilities and have had twelve months of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as follows:
  • In a position at a Grade 16 or above AND you must have a bachelor's degree or higher in a human services field.*
  • For the purpose of this examination, a degree in a human services field includes the professional disciplines of audiology, community mental health, nursing, nutrition, occupational therapy, physical therapy, psychology, rehabilitation counseling, social work, speech/language pathology, and therapeutic recreation (including concentrations in art, dance, drama, music or physical education). Also included are related academic disciplines associated with the study of human behavior (e.g., gerontology, human services, sociology, and speech communication) or human skills development (e.g., counseling, education, and human development). Examples of non-qualifying degrees include but are not limited to: criminal justice, political science, liberal arts, and business.

Duties Description
Provide direct supervision and oversight of the Residential School Transition Coordinators, and act as back up to the Housing Unit Lead for Region 5.
  • Provide direct supervision and oversight to Residential School Transition Coordinators
  • Maintain oversight for all residential referral and screening activities
  • Ensure the A/O database is updated timely.
  • Ensures all unit trackers are updated and submitted timely.
  • Communicates with Statewide Housing Leads, residential providers, individuals, families, care managers, and other stakeholders.
  • Compile and generate requested reports for Central Office, DDRO and unit as required.
  • Assist in all requested unit initiatives and special projects including participation in associated interdepartmental, regional, and statewide workgroups/committees as assigned.
  • Ensure completion of mandatory trainings for unit staff.
  • Complete and process High Needs Funding reviews and applications
Selection Criteria:
  • Possess excellent and professional communication, public speaking, writing and organizational skills.
  • Ability to initiate and maintain working relationships with people served as families, advocates, community representatives, voluntary providers, DDRO, DDSOO and other agency staff.
  • Excellent computer knowledge and ability to maintain databases and tracking systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team as required as well as provide direct supervision to unit staff.
  • Possess acceptable time and attendance work record.
  • Ability to participate in requested functions and activities during evening hours and weekends as requested.
