Part Time - Direct Support Professional needed to provide a fun and safe environment while working in the local community. Staff work with participants to achieve community-oriented goals that may include socialization skills, budgeting and money transactions, safety skills or learning how to make friends.
We offer several different outings each week/weekend and participants sign up for outings that fit their schedules, budgets and interests. Part Time Direct Support Professionals support the participants in their community activities as well as promoting friendships.
Shift: Saturday & Sunday 11am-5pm
All Direct Support professionals support the persons served character, choices, strengths, interests and needs as outlined in a person’s planning. Assist in the implementation of person centered plans. Ensures the safety, health and clean environment for all people.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
•Plans, coordinates and implements meaningful activities on a daily basis: areas of daily living and personal care needs as well as person centered activities that promote independence, inclusion, and productivity.
•Assists in developing and responsible for implementing person-centered plans.
•Perform daily site cleaning, food preparation and laundry as needed.
•Complete all tasks necessary to ensure health and safety of each person receiving services
•Administers medications following proper procedures when certified.
•Completes daily documentation and other paperwork promptly and accurately.
•Attends/participates in general staff meetings, in-service training and other pertinent agency meetings/trainings.
•Work collaboratively with other coworkers.
•Flexibility to work assignments as needed at the agency within shift and/or other availability. If hired for Day Services, this may include being assigned a residential site to work partially, or in full, based upon status of day program service delivery.
•Responsible to record time worked at the start and end of each shift and to work the minimum number of accepted hours that you are hired for.
•Safely transports people to and from activities, day program, and appointments following proper procedures when approved to drive.
•Ensures adequate supplies are available to support persons served needs.
•Performs CPR and Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention (SCIP-R).
•Complies with all agency policies and procedures.
•Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
•18 years of age.
•High School Diploma or GED preferred.
•NYS Driver’s License that meets agency policy preferred.
•Ability to read and comprehend plans and documentation.
•Basic computer skills necessary for communication and documentation.
•Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
•Ability to meet physical requirements of the position when performing the following: standing, walking, sitting, bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling and climbing.
•Lifting requirement 35 lbs.
•Ability to support people receiving services with repositioning, lifting and transferring as required by their person-centered plan.
•Physical agility and ability to react to emergency situations, including Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention (SCIP-R) certification as per regulatory guidelines.
•Certification in CPR.
