What are the responsibilities and job description for the Engineering Technician position at Peraton?
Peraton is seeking a highly motivated Engineering Technician to provide Mission Essential support under the Consolidated Satellite Control Network (SCN) Modification, Maintenance, & Operations (CAMMO) contract in Vandenberg AFB, CA. You will be part of a team that provides 24x7 support for the operation, control, and maintenance of mission critical United States Department of Defense and some non-DoD satellites, including continual execution of Telemetry, Tracking & Commanding (TT&C) operations. In addition, they provide early orbit launch support while satellites are in initial or transfer orbits and require commanding to maneuver to their final orbit.
The CAMMO contract maintains the requirement of operational performance through a consolidated service of operations, operation & site support, organizational & depot maintenance, sustainment, modifications, and factory/launch compatibility testing for the SCN resulting in reduced Operations and Maintenance (O&M) costs. The CAMMO contract requires employees to perform mission essential functions for high consequence DoD missions during contingency operations, natural disasters, extreme weather, pandemic, or other emergency situations.
The Engineering Technician will be responsible for the following but not limited to:
- Performs operations and corrective/preventive maintenance on telecommunications equipment and circuits, RF equipment, secure communications equipment and computerized systems.
- Documents operations, performance testing, troubleshooting and maintenance activities in job registers and databases.
- Completes paperwork for equipment and spares inventories, and reports.
- Occasionally ascends/descends a ladder on antenna towers, at heights of 40 feet or more, and constantly positions self to work on equipment mounted lower in racks
**Provides 24x7 mission essential support to military war-fighters. Crews are divided into three 8-hour shifts**
In order to respond to changing circumstances, applicants must be willing to remain flexible with their work schedule. Flexibility includes, but is not limited to, adjusting to changes to increase efficiency; covering shifts for personnel who are absent; and willingly adapting to a dynamic 24X7X365 work environment that may require extended shifts and/or lock downs.
Qualifications:Required Qualifications:
- H.S. Diploma/GED four (4) years of relevant professional experience; or commensurate education and experience
- Ability to obtain a SECRET Clearance. To obtain a secret clearance, you must be a U.S. Citize
- Must be able to work in a team environment
- Two (2) years’ experiences in the operations and maintenance of telecommunications, computer, or RF equipment
- Must be able to lift 50lbs to waist level unassisted; occasionally individual lifting in excess of the 50lbs is required as part of a two person lift for larger items. (Appropriate personal protective equipment will be used)
- Willingness to work shifts
- Ability to work in a team environment with government customers and other contractors
- H.S. Diploma/GED five (5) years of relevant professional experience; or commensurate education and experience
- An active SECRET Clearance
- Current/Valid CompTIA Security certification
- Experience in troubleshooting at a system and circuit card / module level, coordinating and participating in RF and telecommunications troubleshooting efforts, and customer service for the Department of Defense
- Background in operations and maintenance of DSCS/WGS satellite communications equipment
- Background maintaining communications / electronics equipment
- Previous experience supporting government and/or Department of Defense customers
