Responsibilities
Peraton is seeking a HL7 Analyst to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in transforming the future of technology and public health. This position is a work from home and will become part of Peraton’s team that supports the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Preferred candidates in metro Atlanta, Georgia area.
What you’ll do:
The HL7 Analyst is responsible for delivering expert consulting services and technical assistance in aiding CDC’s partnering laboratories and public health departments with their laboratory information management systems data exchange implementations of public health data using HL7 electronic laboratory reporting (ELR) industry standard messaging protocol. The scope of this role includes acting as liaison between CDC and their partnering laboratories in the analysis, troubleshooting, testing, and support to set up data exchanges for onboarding laboratories, using HL7 to feed into CDC’s laboratory response network systems.
- Serve as a broker and Subject Matter Expert to laboratories IT departments seeking technical assistance in data exchange of public health data to CDC’s laboratory response network systems using HL7 messages according to industry standard interface protocols
- Responsible for the design, testing, validation, maintenance, troubleshooting and support of CDC’s laboratory response network multiple HL7 interface versions
- Responsible for overseeing and guiding partnering laboratories through all lifecycle phases of onboarding for ELR HL7 data exchanges from planning and coordination, development, formal validation, and go-live launch
- Responsible for queue management of helpdesk requests and provide regular updates until resolution
- Assist in authoring laboratory messaging standards and end-user training materials for HL7 integrations and onboarding
- Work with laboratories to identify needed changes to HL7 interface technical specifications, as well as update and maintain the documents as it relates to all requirements, mappings, and data exchange message guides
- Facilitate stakeholder, workgroup, and other routine meetings to identify, document, and prioritize their needs
- Conduct HL7 training sessions for laboratories’ IT integrators and other technical staff
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- 8-10 years with a Bachelor’s degree working as HL7 Analyst or Consultant; additional years of experience may be accepted in lieu of degree
- Hands on experience with messages implemented using HL7 Version 2 standard (e.g., ADTs, ORUs, ORMs, etc.)
- Experience with parsing, formatting, testing, and processing (HL7, XML, etc.)
- Strong working knowledge in SQL and SQL Server
- Experience in HL7 vocabulary and message mapping guide creation and maintenance
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to establish and maintain positive and productive working relationships with business and technical partners
- Must be a U.S. citizen or a green card holder
- Must be able to obtain and maintain the required agency clearance
Desired Qualifications:
- HL7 Certified
- Experience with data from LIS
- Experience with defining new HL7 guidelines for disease and laboratory integration
- Knowledge of standard coded terminologies (LOINC, SNOMED, RxNorm, NCPDP, etc.) or terminology services products a plus.
- Laboratory work experience
- Previous experience with CDC, LRN, and Public Health, or government contracting
