What are the responsibilities and job description for the IT Engineering Manager position at Peraton?
Technical leader for all AF IT Enterprise Modernization Program design and configuration build efforts, including infrastructure, hardware platforms, Operating System software solutions, COTS application development, and storage and backup design and testing activities. Oversees the acquisitions and finances for capital expenditures related to the infrastructure and software required for supporting the AF SIPRNet Modernization installation, testing, and deployments. Leads a team of over 40 technical professionals, in the performance of the development of site-specific installation/implementation guides, and the migration of network and Active Directory (AD) environments. Acts as the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for Engineering.
- Provides insight and evaluates customer’s requirements to develop rough order of magnitudes, bill of materials, and solution designs
- Interpret and comply with customer IT internal security and regulatory requirements and assure product reliability
- Must be able to establish and maintain interpersonal relationships, as well as handle complaints, settle disputes and resolve conflicts
- Leads a team in creating an enterprise network infrastructure designs to meet Air Force customer requirements and Government technology mandates
- Defines and documents engineering design standards
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion
- Provides technical responsibility for planning, organizing and coordinating test procedures on current and future designs
- Communicates with leadership personnel on projects, priorities, timetables and budgets as required
- Reviews and approves Requirement Traceability Matrix, Deployment and Operations Guides, and Test Strategies and Plans
- Direct manager for a team of approximately 20 engineers that provide development and level 3 and 4 services for network infrastructure and enterprise monitoring solutions
- Ability to lead a team of approximately 100 sub-contractors in the areas of performing installations for 180 sites worldwide
- The candidate will coordinate with the Program Manager and assist in the day-to-day management of contract staff including hiring assistance, employment oversight, performance review, timesheet approval, training and discipline of assigned employees.
- Evaluate new technology for inclusion in the program’s solution and create Tactical technical roadmaps
- Participate in Architect Review Evaluation which reviews new systems and technical applications for inclusion in the Offerings
- Be available 24x7 if needed for on-call support to respond to high urgency escalated technical issues
- Able to travel up to 25% to meet with potential customers
Qualifications:
- Requires 12 to 15 years with BS/BA or 10 to 13 years with MS/MA
- Must have an active Secret Clearance at a minimum
- Comp TIA Security Certification
- Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) certification a plus
- Demonstrated expert ability to effectively work with senior and executive level government staff
- Demonstrated strong customer and partner relationship building skills
- Experience in team building, oversight and management of a team within the program
- The candidate must be familiar with Engineering Methodology best practices and policies
Desired skills
- The candidate should possess experience in virtualization architecture using VMware technologies such as VMware ESXi 6.5, VMware Virtual Center, Vsphere 6.5 including P2V Migrations.
- For Operating Systems, the candidate should possess experience in Windows 2016 R2 Enterprise, Active Directory, Linux 7.X and Dell hardware platforms
- Design and deployment experience with Dell Switches and VxRAIL technology.
- Experience with Dell EMC Integrated Data Protection Appliance (IDPA) Storage is a plus
- Familiarization with Data Domain and Avamar backup solution is a plus
- Experience with BMC Remedy software and SolarWinds tools are a plus

Colorado Salary Maximum: $252,000
The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position, and is just one component of Peraton's total compensation package for employees.
